There's no way we should be forced to play Friday night with a short turnaround.
We're a top 4 side FFS.

The Broncos should play Friday end of
The Tigers if they get in will be 8th. They shouldn't complain about a short turnaround.

Failing that it should be the Sydney final on Friday & it should be at ANZ
F the AFL if they moan too , they have it on Saturday , not Friday.
And they were lucky to get it at all !!

You should be more worried about going out in straight sets which is highly likely

So the brilliant NRL and their final round scheduling have screwed up the finals scheduling big time.

The obvious game for Friday night is Melbourne/Cowboys - but not with 90k people next door at the AFL. So what does that leave?

Cronulla/Canberra - having a team coming off a 5 day break
Penrith/Dogs - having a team coming off a 5 day break.
Broncos/Titans or Tigers - possibly having a team coming off a 5 day break, and continuing to give the Broncos the more rest advantage.

There simply should not have been a Thursday night game this round, or it sure as hell shouldn't have involved a finals bound team.

I'm guessing the scheduling will be:
Broncos/Titans or Tigers - Friday
Cronulla/Canberra - 5.30 Sat (I think definite if it's in Canberra)
Melbourne/Cowboys - 7.30 Sat (they have to do this, take advantage of no AFL in Melb)
Penrith/Dogs - Sunday (this can't be Saturday if it's at ANZ because of the AFL)

Lets see what they do. They are dumb enough to put the Melb/Cows game on Friday. They truly are.

Should the NRL really care if there is an AFL game in the same city on the same night ?

depends which city you're talking about. If you mean Melbourne, then the answer is absolutely. That game is going to get 90k people, a lot of whom would possibly go to the Storm game if it were played on a different night. Plus, it gives the NRL the night to themselves to showcase the game. Just look at last nights game as a perfect example.

It's proven to be an absolute gem in Melbourne - another 24K+ crowd on the cards should they schedule us away from AFL.

With the Canberra TigPies game beyond doubt now, the top 8 is settled:

1. Storm
2. Canberra
3. Sharks
4. Cowboys
5. Broncos
6. Bulldogs/Penrith
7. Penrith/Bulldogs
8. Titans

Brisbane and Penrith most deserving of the bottom 4 positions, Bulldogs and Titans will be out in week 1 easily. Congrats to Canberra for finishing 2nd. Came out of nowhere and exploded onto the scene for the next few years. f**k Melbourne and Cronulla in every orifice. If you don't treat them like heels this finals series, you're a Trump supporter.

So the NRL have created another issue for themselves in regards to finals venues

IF the Raiders win their week 1 final to progress through to the preliminary final, they will host a non-NSW side. In Sydney.

Canberra have to play home week 3 preliminary finals in Sydney, but given teams 1,4,5,8 are Melbourne, North QLD, Brisbane and the Gold Coast it would guarantee an all out of state game!

Storm v Cowboys at AAMI Park

Canberra v Sharks at Canberra Stadium

Broncos v Titans at Suncorp

Penrith v Bulldogs at ??? (If the AFL have ANZ, let them have the hole. Give Penrith their home final).
