Finals Week 2: Sharks vs Panthers

That's impossible to know for sure. But if you look at what he cost us... odds on we win without him.

What we do know is he ran out of the line for Fifita to setup Chad Townsend for a try. To put a hit on Moylan who was never getting the ball

He missed the tackle on Luke Lewis for him to score a try. Looked no better thrn the efforts Carty is bagged for.

He gave away the dumbest f**king cannonball tackle penalty of the season. It doesn't get more blatant then that.

He dropped the ball cold when Kikau got us a break and some momentum. Although this error on its own wouldn't be so bad.

He was f**king terrible for us. He contributed to 3 scoring plays for Sharks in a game we lost by 1 point. He didn't contribute anything to us.

Yet you claim we would have still lost without him? That's a pretty huge stretch... he's the one player on the field you could replace and be nearly certain his replacement couldn't cost us as much even if he didn't offer anything extra.

We have Peachey, Luai, May as our other options. Hardly proven 5/8th's. Would of been just as targeted.

What teams this finals have won when their pack has been dominated? 40% will always ensure the backs struggle

But he didn't call it the previous week, or the week before that, when Maloney played well and we won. He waits for a bad performance. He appears to be agenda driven, which when having just been eliminated from the 2018 premiership, is in absolutely no way helpful, nor was it last year when he did exactly the same thing but with a different target.

Girds had us coming first and winning the comp last year btw. Thats about as positive as it gets.

I think he is just as frustrated as other fans who want this club to be more successful.

Would he have been helpful with some assistant coaching this year? Who knows, not everyone makes a great coach. Just ask Brett Kenny.

He didn't tip us to win though so it isn't like he expected us to win. Nor the week before either so he doesn't rate us as a team. So what not say exactly what he doesn't rate instead blaming one player

I don't see what's so unreasonable here. We had the chance to win it and our game management fell short. Regardless of what else happened that's on him. Although at the groubd it seemed Nathan did a lot of the talking in that period and Katoa ignored him once or twice.

He picked a comfortable win to them. We lost by a point how about saying what we did well to get closer then he expected. Then list the bad like Sterlo and Freddy did on the footy show.

It is all he does Negative no matter the subject. He'd go well on NRL 360

He said Cleary was good. Doesn't sound all negative to me. I doubt many people had us favourites for that game.

It seems a load of horse nonsense is going on behind the scenes at the club. This team should've won the premiership this year, with Griffin, without Griffin, with/out Ciraldo, Hasler, Maguire, even with me coaching.

We can pick holes here and there. But from my point of view, at 20-20, what Maloney or anyone else did or didn't do means jack. Cronulla were finished and we were going to do them over. I didn't get annoyed at Cleary for missing the easy fg kick, I was more annoyed that they didn't go for the try because it was there to be had.

For it to happen so often, I think it means this group of players need to be on edge to get going and you typically only do that when you're in a losing position. If we were down by 30, we'd have tied. If we were down by 12, we'd have tied. We just lost our head a bit in those last 3 minutes.

edit:

Thinking about it further. I'm just wondering if these guys have the belief they could win the comp? If they did, you'd think they'd play a tad differently?

There's a part of me that would rather they play this way to win the comp. People were banging on about how the Sharks were a better, finals hardened team, and that we wouldn't get away with the balls out, come from behind approach. Despite that, they were screwed at the end. It wouldn't have mattered how good Storm, Roosters and Rabbitohs are, they'd all still be susceptible to getting run over by us.

So now we play the Sharks in the Jersey Flegg GF. Hopefully we can get 1 out of 3!
Unfortunately,we don't get to watch them at the Sydney Olympic Stadium on the NRL GF day. I think they are having that women's GF in it's place.Or maybe the winners of both NSW and Qld under 20's have the national GF on the day.

I was shattered and still am by the loss.

At the same time, as I type, it is amazing really we were able to graft our way back into that game and draw level at 20 all.

From what I have been reading all our players were basically shit or average at best and I understand those emotions.

We had all the momentum and but for the grace of god and good fortune and couple of key moments conspired against us.

The Valentine Holmes kick off huge turning point could have gone nine metres instead of 11 and at the end of the day with two minutes to go the most blatant and obvious marker not square you would ever see goes unpunished.

We win that game this thread / forum would be an entirely different place.

This current side is clearly not the best side I have enjoyed watching over the past 50 years but boy they are courageous if not the most talented.

I see. So we should have won the competition with the youngest team in the NRL, two medically retired players and two more players gone for the season? Two of those players were spine players, one of whom was the most experienced player in the team and the club captain. Wallace would have made no difference against the Sharks.......

Making the finals three years in a row, is as good as you can hope for with a team this young. Next year we should come even closer to a GF with a bit of luck with injuries.

Are you saying this team couldn't have won it? Because Griffin doesn't have the luxury of those excuses/reasons. Because they sure as **** could've.

This team was not good enough to win a GF Dodgy.

Admire your optimism but sadly we aren't and were not good enough.

Thats what everyone said about our 2003 premership team and look what happened there.

The top 8 teams were seperated by 2 competition points, once in the finals, anything was possible.
