Incidentally, did anyone listen to Isaac Luke on Radio Sport?

Dude sounded like he was on a chill on the couch with a lazy Tui; mumbling on about how it's real tough but they're trying real hard, and a couple of 50/50 calls would have meant last week they'd only be two points behind. Yeah he's been there, Souths was tough too at times you know. Learning, process, faith.

So uninspiring.

To be fair the bloke isn't exactly renowned for being articulate.

I 100% doubt it so it isn't accurate to say nobody doubts it.

I pointed out how flawed this roster is before the season started, I predicted they're a fringe 8 team at best, and that's exactly what they are and will continue to be because this group just isn't as good as some want to believe.

When your forwards are shit, you aren't shit.

Fair enough, maybe I'm off the mark. I'd certainly suggest, however, that we have a roster to rival teams 6-8. Given our initial draw and advantage at Origin time, that's where we should be.

What people should be talking about is our disgusting away record. SK's comment about 'its only an issue if we talk about it' is a bit worrying.

ourb squad is overrated, but still a top 8 position or being in that fight was achievable IMO, being with the bottom feeders is disappointing and being there consistently is embarrassing

And the current management recruited RTS, Luke and Forn while ignoring the pack and failing to develop our young forwards, so it's on them.

We had a (dare I say) process already in place for developing forwards. We created Rapira, Package, Elijah Taylor etc ourselves.

Did that walk out with Cleary too?

The only roster I'd agree with that would be Manly, they're the overachievers. But then the fact they're capable of overachieving separates them. Going beyond name value, they have players who are hard nosed and get stuck in, Manly has been renowned for that culture for a while, but it isn't just some automatic thing either. Do we think the Warriors players would magically get that by being there? I think more likely many would be spat out because they aren't up to it. I'd take the Eels over the Warriors and I'd take the Dragons over the Warriors without hesitation. The Dragons pack is sick. Same can be said of the 9th and 10th placed Raiders and Panthers, I'd definitely prefer to have those rosters to work with.

In saying that, those Raiders and Panthers are the teams that are actually disappointing. The Warriors are right where they should be for mine, but those rosters are the ones where the fans have legitimate gripe for not being in the eight.

It's not magical, it's coaching and culture. I believe I could name you 6-8 players who yes, if they went to Manly, or Parra, or wherever they'd produce much more. I think we're about to see Ben go to the Tigers and absolutely set the world on fire, for a start. Fus I think would be a star elsewhere. Vete should be better. Lisone the same. It's not often guys get 'spat out' in a good environment unless they're really not motivated - think Mahe Fonua at the Storm, someone like Paul Carter etc. I don't think we have guys like that, just ones who aren't as professional as a Mannering, a Smith C etc and need a strong environment and guidance to be successful.

Agree our pack is weak, but a weak pack doesn't excuse giving away a penalty every single week in the first five minutes, or armgrabbing tackles. Or not being able to land passes at their intended recipients. You can have a sh*t team and stay in the fight game after game by doing the basics right. We play dumb and make schoolboy errors. And I don't think that the lack of a pack is behind that

If they're so dependent on being babysitted to achieve then they really aren't all they're cracked up to be. The coaching required begins much lower in their development.

We don't seem interested out there, we have no plan, we are unfit and have no desire. A lot of that is on the coach!
Spooners next year for sure.

One good move today. Replacing Issac at halftime. Bloke wasn't putting in. Pity Dave had to go off because Roache was consigning Luke to the bench with his effort.

If just half the team could play with the intent that Roach bought we'd be travelling ok. Too many guys going through the motions and thinking that's enough. What Kearney does with next weeks team selection at hooker is going to be a good indication of whether he has the balls to follow through with his talk about player performance.

I'll lay one thing squarely at Kearney's feet. The forward pack we ran out with today would have to be the smallest in the NRL this round. He went for a defensive side and it didn't work. 5 minutes for Bell was a pointless exercise. 10 - 15 minutes for Satae or even Sao may have at least offered something.

Worse than that, our forward pack doesn't play as a forward pack. How many times this year have we seen the first three hit ups from Maumalo, Fusitua or the centres? WTF is the poitn of having forwards if you don't use them?. Baffling

Interesting in the press conference he spoke about players not putting in an effort at all tonight, and he said it was players who've been there a while. Luke was the obvious one, what two runs in the first half? Your picks on the others he was singling out?

I think he said the same thing before and then next week, he picked pretty much the same team. I don't know, maybe Im getting ahead of myself but sometimes crap players gets picked again and again in this team.
