As for the signing kiwis thing - it’s a chicken and egg equation I reckon. We don’t get top grade Aussies unless we pay overs for them - Auckland isn’t an attractive destination, and it’s made less attractive by an underperforming footy side. Basically we have to pay overs (hello cap pressure) or take a punt on journeymen or lower graders. Sometimes the latter pays off (Burr, Webb) but just as often it fails.
The safest bets are kiwis who’ve come up through the Aussie system, we can get them at a competitive price and they’ve got the grounding. The other option is Poms, but for some reason we can’t seem to pick the right ones.

If rumours are true, they've had a few with track records... yet we hired the proven track records of Elliott and Kearney - neither were ever going to get a job elsewhere

Cleary and Anderson both were good without big histories - and we've seen the likes of Seibold show it's not the be all and end all...

But why hire proven duds... where is that cloudsurfer fella, he loved the potato

I dunno I guess with any shithouse coach you can find some evidence that suggests positives... at the highest level you shouldn't have to dig too deep...

i think the rule of thumb with any successful team is that your home ground is a fortress, not a place where 10-12k people can watch you get f**ked up the ass by the opposing team.

I was pissed-off listening to the commentary last night, we were being laughed at, in the context of being 'so fun to watch' as we're the ultimate 'Jekyll and Hyde' side.

I've seen other teams play this year, and know we have some strong competition there.

No established coach would want to work in that arrangement surely - unless Mal can convince them of it's utility...
