You'll find it's a great feature when you get used to using it.

Getting used to it already. I'm sure I'll like it.
These upgrades always take a bit of time to get to know and get used to.

Now, to just sort out my phone....

he +quote box is multi-quote, the reply box is a single quote reply.

The multi-quote ( +quote ) is best for if you want to keep reading the thread and quote once done, you can quote and reply to multiple posts at the time of your choosing.

Saves replying to a post and then having to navigate back to where you were to continue reading.

It sounds like you're installing it as a PWA, rather than adding a bookmark to your phone's home screen.

I've done a bit more googling .... think its related to this mainifest file - there is a meta link tag in the head

Yep, that's the PWA that I mentioned earlier. It's always going to add the home URL - that's just how a PWA works.

You may need a third party app to add a Home Screen shortcut to a specific sublink. You can read about this here: https://android.stackexchange.com/q...irefox-cannot-add-specific-url-to-home-screen
