what a sad day it is if there's truth to such allegations, especially ahead of what is being built as one of the games of the year.

innocent until proven guilty, but i can imagine players being stood down while investigations are carried out, which could ruin brisbane's hopes this year.

THREE Brisbane Broncos rugby league players are being investigated over an alleged sexual assault in an inner-city nightclub on Saturday night.
Queensland police are tomorrow expected to interview the players over claims that a woman was sexually assaulted in the toilets of Fortitude Valley's Alhambra Lounge nightclub.
But it is believed the alleged victim is yet to make a formal complaint.
Police established a crime scene at the nightclub soon after it opened its doors at 8pm on Saturday.
A police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating an alleged incident."
It is understood the players had been celebrating Friday night's semi-final victory over the Sydney Roosters and arrived at Alhambra Lounge after being evicted from another Brisbane hotel.
Broncos boss Bruno Cullen could not be reached for comment.
Four Broncos players have been sacked over drinking-related incidents.

come on gallop be consistant make it 7 broncos players sacked - i recall that the women in the bird incident hadn;t made a statement either and he was "stood" down or in reality sacked - come on get rid of them now-

who's to say that of the 4 players sacked, that 3 of them weren't the alleged perpetrators as well?

Brisbane Broncos rugby league footballers under investigation

Article from: The Australian

THREE Brisbane Broncos rugby league footballers are under investigation over an alleged sexual assault at a Brisbane nightclub on Saturday night.

A woman was last night formally interviewed by Queensland police over allegations she was sexually assaulted in the toilets of the Alhambra Lounge, in inner-city Fortitude Valley, The Australian reports.

It is expected the players and witnesses at the nightclub will be interviewed later today by police.

Sources said police were attempting to establish the circumstances leading up to the alleged incident.

The woman made the complaint just after 9pm (AEST) on Saturday, leading police to set up a crime scene at the club and seize footage from security cameras.

A sexual assault examination was also conducted on the woman that evening.

It is expected to take several days before police make a decision on whether to press charges.

The players are believed to have arrived at the club after having been evicted from two hotels, including the Story Bridge Hotel, earlier in the day.

The Broncos' drinking session followed Friday night's resounding semi-final victory over the Sydney Roosters, guaranteeing the team a home final against the Melbourne Storm on Saturday night.

Concerns have been mounting within the club's management for several months over a growing drinking culture among some groups of players.

Captain Darren Lockyer addressed the team less than a month ago about some of the players' off-field behaviour, pleading with them to curb their drinking during the finals' series.

A Brisbane Broncos spokesman said the club had not received a formal complaint from police and could not confirm whether there were any Broncos players at the nightclub at the time of the assault.

They will be.

The Broncos don't give a damn about being charged; you act up, you get shown the door. Costigan, Lacey... the list goes on.

Heads will be rolling as we type.

WTF??? Why are they obviously bombed while still alive in a finals series.

Even without the allegations, the club should be extremely annoyed. Surely they can wait a week or two before going on a bender.

However, sources this morning told brisbanetimes.com.au that up to four players could be questioned over the incident.

It's understood Broncos players were at the nightspot celebrating the team's win over the Roosters in the first NRL playoff.

A spokesperson for the Story Bridge Hotel this morning denied News Limited reports that Broncos players were evicted from the establishment earlier in the day.

There were no players absent from Broncos training at the club's Red Hill headquarters today, at which a large media contingent had gathered.
Broncos media manager Trad McLean said police had not contacted the club over the allegations, so no comment would be made. He could not confirmed if Broncos players were at Alhambra at the time of the alleged assault.
However, the Broncos have one of the strictest player codes of conduct for public behaviour. Five players - Julian O'Neill, Neville Costigan, Brett Seymour, Ian Lacey and John Te Reo - have been axed because of drinking-related incidents.
National Rugby League chief executive David Gallop said last night the investigation was "concerning'', but warned against pre-empting the police findings.
"At the moment, all I have is someone telling me about an allegation,'' he told The Australian.

In England they're trying to pass legislation that if a girl gets plastered and ends up in the pants of a stranger and decides to scream rape she can't claim jack sh*t.

I don't know what's going to happen.

I'm past the point of being upset over these matters after the last Bird incident with his Yank lady friend stating that she still loves him and will continue living with him.

I'm sick of peoples bullsh*t.

Don't put yourself in a position to be manipulated.

People deserve all they get anyway for being stupid.

Alcohol effects your judgement and awareness and it's bad for your health.
