Four from Eleven, Griffin is a dead man walking.

I don't buy the 'Gus won't admit he's wrong' line, he punted Payne after a few months FFS.

Given our squad is locked in already, it'll make little difference to our recruitment if he stays or goes and Contrary to what people say on here, the majority of players like him.

I'd give him to the end of the season (with finals a minimum requirement) but wouldn't be shocked if we did it sooner.

I think we can all see that Griffin is not the man for the job......but who do you replace him with?
I cant see uncle Phil sacking him this season so what i would love too see is the club cut its losses after this season...pay out Griffin for 2018 and appoint the one guy who has done just about everything in coaching except have a nrl team fulltime....KEVIN WALTERS.

The guy won 6 comps, played under the best coaches, the players love him and he has more than done his time to get a shot... The guy is a WINNER,

Obviously with state of origin he cant coach this year but we should get him ASAP for next year and beyond.

I have serious reservations after hearing him on fox sports.

Tbh it's kind of a relief we are so shit. I can disconnect and not sweat on games. The more we lose, the more likely it is the problem gets fixed. It felt different with Elliott, like he was doing just enough to not get sacked for ages. I can accept us being awful if Hook gets punted sooner.

Being shit is like an old friend to a long time fan.

I wish I could like this post twice.

Reports that the Board support Anthony Griffin in this current time of hardship and that Brian Fletcher will offer him a contract renewal at the end of the season.

At the end of the day, despite not being the one to give away stupid penalties, drop balls, miss tackles etc etc, the coach carries the ultimate responsibly for the teams performances.

I suspect coach Anthony Griffin is on borrowed time.

I cannot see us turning around our very, very poor performances and assuming we continue in the same vein we will almost certainly have a new coach for 2018.

Having said that, there are a few players in our squad who need to give themselves an upper cut and start giving some value for money. Too many players in our squad earn very good money, no doubt much more that the player who is and has been clearly our best overall player for sometime in Josh Mansour.

I don't profess to know how much certain players are paid but when it comes to value for money Josh Mansour should be the highest paid player at our club.

When you consider it is probable someone like Bryce Cartwright is most likely on a bigger contract than Josh Mansour then something is clearly wrong, not only at our club but in the game generally.

I have so missed Josh Mansour. His pride and passion in the jersey, commitment, give all and leave nothing out there have been so missed.

surely we can give Brennan a crack if Griffin gets moved on - he's coached most of the youth and he couldnt do any worse than Griffin now. If Griffin got moved on this season, the remaining games would be invalubale experience to Garth getting his feet wet in NRL coaching.

if we are looking to bring the Youth into our squad & into the future, its only fitting that we look to our youth coaches who have helped to develop our youngsters.

if not - Toovey is my pick - no one else worth mentioning IMO - K Walters wont take the Job and I cant see Hagan wanting to coach NRL again.

Gus didnt sack him. Payne pissed off the wrong people and made enemies everywhere. He was forced to quit and from all reports it wasnt by Gus. Griffin doesnt seem stupid or arrogant enough to make enemies like Payne did.

This is my thoughts also - even though I am loathe to move on a coach mid-season.

However, the bulk of our current squad is locked up long-term, we don't have to worry about coaching instability being a stumbling block for recruitment like the Tigers had.

Brennan could step up, he has coached the majority of the players to great success. If it works, fantastic. If not, well we cut him loose and chase a proven NRL coach.

As long we don't end up with Hagan, I think I'll be happy. He might be a good tactician, but he left Newcastle and Parramatta in massive shitfights.

Feeling your suffering here... broncos players loved Griffin too, but who wouldn't. He lets you get fat, and doesn't care how well you play, he just picks you week after week anyway.

Griffin doesnt seem smart enough either, or motivated/bothered.

This is the astounding thing.

He dropped 3 players for disciplinary reasons yet seems unwilling to drop any big names for poor performances.

Wheres an article that says that? All the articles I found from a google of "Corey Payne sacked" have him quitting. No mention of it being due to Gus. Most mention him making enemies with other people in the NRL.

Theres no mention at all from him being sacked by Gould or Gould admitting he was a mistake. Although my memory of it was Gus sacking him too. But nowhere seems to back it up
