As much as I think Griffin is a dud coach and we'll go nowhere with him, that story makes me think we need to be careful how we punt him. If we don't have a strong replacement who can quickly get a bunch of headstrong young guys under control we might end up having to shed half the squad like we did when we got rid of Elliott. I don't want to have to start the 5 year plan again.

The only part of the story i question was him blowing up at the end of the game.

Why wasnt he blowing his load at half time after the drabble we put up? The second half was at least half decent.

They actually threw the ball around and looked like a real footy team for 10 minutes.

I thought he did?

When they came back from half-time the sideline commentator was saying he blew up. The footage I saw of Griffin in the second half made him looked pretty pissed.

Discussing the game plan in a public place in full earshot of randoms? Sounds professional.
Uno they said? Its parra we keep this short. Kick chase and keep them deep in there half and they will fall apart. Laughed and said lets enjoy our coffee. Or something along those lines.

Serious question though, if the rumours are true and there has been major issues behind the scenes (players sleeping with other players partners etc.), should Griffin get a bit of leeway?

I still think our biggest issue here is the availability of a viable alternative. Our team (on paper) is ready to make a real push for a title (remember - on paper).

We cant have a rookie coach come in, must be someone who has been there before. Probably should have had a sly poke at Hasler a month ago. Toovey the only other option as I see it, and maybe we have already sounded him out and he declined?? We wont know.

Disagree it can't be a rookie.

Rookie coaches have made impacts on more than one occasion in the last 15 years.

Ricky Stuart
Trent Robinson
Michael McGuire

Robinson & Mcguire had a couple of years in SL.

Even Flanagan at the Sharks had never coached FG before he got that gig.

Give Brennan the gig in a caretakers capacity for the remainder of the season. He is a NRL coach in-waiting. I believe there were Super League clubs short listing him recently for the head coach role. He's been in the system longer than Griffin, and was the coach in the 2013 Holden Cup premiership winning team, with a number of those squad players now in the NRL squad.

There are 15 matches remaining... 10 should be enough of a sample size to indicate as to whether he is up to it. So by mid-August, we should know whether he is up for an extension or we look elsewhere.

I definitely support that, only one problem. Have heard that Brennan doesn't want a FG gig at the moment, doesn't want a full time position apparently. I presume something family related. I can't say for certain that's true though.

Nar...he's not bright enough. Still thinks we will make the 8 this year. Clearly got rocks in his head.

Haha sounds like he is throwing his hat in the ring! He's been an assistant under Bellamy at the storm, Bennett at the Broncos and now Cameron Smith for the maroons so it's a pretty solid apprenticeship.

I can only assume anyone suggesting Walters doesn't have Foxtel.

I mean I know commentary and coaching are different skills but I've next to never heard anything even approaching insight from him. Easily the worst commentator on the network.
