Wheres an article that says that? All the articles I found from a google of "Corey Payne sacked" have him quitting. No mention of it being due to Gus. Most mention him making enemies with other people in the NRL.

Theres no mention at all from him being sacked by Gould or Gould admitting he was a mistake. Although my memory of it was Gus sacking him too. But nowhere seems to back it up
MX you are being a bit naive. When somebody quits so soon in a good job, like a CEO position, they are usually given the dignity of jumping before they are pushed. Sacking CEO's publicly is messy. Look for statements like "they have left to pursue other opportunities", "I need to spend more time with my family". They usually give you a hint of what happened. He jumped, but there was likely to be two handprints in his back and they would have been large sausage shaped fingers.

How am I being naive? I know Payne was pushed. But the club has gotten away with it and none of it seems to come back on Gus.

The original point was Gus not admitting he was wrong a bout Griffin. Then people saying he did so with Payne and that he could again with Griffin.

But he never admitted to f**king up with Payne and it wont be so easy to get rid of a coach without admitting to stuffing up. I still believe things would need to get a lot worse before Gus ever considers admitting it was a poor decision and he was wrong. I honestly believe he would double down on his decision before that.

Got a text from my brother this morning:
Bro: Wanna hear the joke of the year?
Me: Yep
Bro: Panthers.
Me: I just teared up, merkin
Bro: Hahaha

If he fired up at them, good on him. They deserve a rocket and the embarrassment of spending a week in Reggies after the shit salad they have been serving us for the past 9 weeks.

If Moylan, Merrin and Tamou are asking for releases - they can leave tomorrow as far as I'm concerned.

Although I do take it with a grain of salt, it would certainly explain our performances this year.
Like as if a coach wouldn't get up a team for such a performance. Regardless of the coach and his tactics, if they don't have pride in the jumper, they can f*ck off. But it sounds like bull.

f**k that, I'm not going through another five years of rebuilding for a coach who has banned attacking kicks and has an average at best record as an nrl coach(being generous). Fire him and be done with it, the team has been woefully unprepared since the round 1 debacle.

The players need to be held accountable no doubt but the reality is the squad got stronger this year and we are still a much worse team. That's on Griffin and Gould. If you can't get a squad like ours winning even a third of their games you are doing something wrong.

Moylan knows the coach is shit and cares enough to say something and you want him sacked? Hahaha

Best part of the rumor isnt even that it might mean that Hook could be sacked. The best part is he actually does care.

When you see him in the coaches box or after a match etc. He really doesnt seem to care at all. Kinda sucks when us fans love the team so much and he really looks like he doesnt.

Would like to know what players want out. The coach whether he is good or bad is their boss and they are paid well to play footy. If they cant do that we should consider their releases. We cant have players thinking they run the club. It has been an issue with us before.

If Moylan isnt putting in because he doesnt like the coach. Yes.

I love Moylan. But hes not a very good fullback and so far looks like he will never be a half. If he cant put in 100% every week for his teammates. He's not worthy of our jersey letalone being captain.

Isaah Yeo is more worthy of the (c). Hes not as fancy as other players. But he never looks like he doesn't care. He looks like he puts eveey bit of energy he has in to every run and tackle.

Moylan puts in every week, hes just a shit fullback. He will be the best 5/8 in the world if ever given the chance and everyone can hold me to that

When doesn't Moylan put in? There's one play against the roosters you can accuse him of not playing the whistle plus whatever happened in Melbourne. This dog shit coaching is hurting players careers. The players have to show up and put in 100 percent each week but if they think the coach is f**ked why shouldn't they speak up? Tactically Griffin is woeful and it is showing, if we can see it there's no doubt the players can see it.

sucks to be 2/9, but I want to be winning come Sep/Oct.

I think our simple game plan can be good and work, but we just need to execute on the defense more. Get a good roll on, bomb the worst winger in the other team, hope for a drop OR pin them in the corner is a resonable tactic, if you can aim up with defense, but this is where we are slipping up - sloppy at marker, and missing tackles. Then, when we get behind, we start chasing points/looking for easy points. If the bomb tactic is clearly not working (eg Cleary not hitting them sweet, or our D is a bit off) then we need to modify the plan and look for some repeat sets to build the pressure, but this isn't happening.

We really need to work on being direct and having intent for the full 80 mins. Sounds easy!

Some really good glimpses (eg 2nd half vs Eels and Broncos, but they must have clocked off).

Would love for Cleary to stand another metre or so back, to give him a bit more time, and would love for Moylan to have a bit more ownership/urgency in getting to the ball in defense.

The coach can be a bit frustrating when talking to the media, but I am sure he is a different person when talking to the players (eg think of how Bennett is with the media vs how he would be with his players/staff). Griffin is a 1st grade coach, and Gus was happy with his appointment, so he must know his stuff.

I might be the only one here, but happy to stick with him for now. Hopefully it is just in the media that some of the players don't like him.

I would hope Griffin would rip it up them for letting in soft tries. I was referring to the part about our players not seeing eye to eye with Griffin and wanting a release which would go towards explaining our appalling performances this year.

I dont think Moylan puts in every week. His form is well down on last year and he looks disinterested when it comes to his defensive fullback duties. When the opposition have the ball we have a bunch of players who dont seem interested until we get it back.

When we have the ball interest goes up a bit. But we need a lot more effort from our guys when we dont have the ball.
