It would be horrible if a Prelim final was ever played at Optus Stadium, and its high school multicourt-style surface.
I don’t understand why people here think we deserve second rate grounds for premium quality games mate. If we get a team in Perth we deserve a first class stadium with a decent capacity. As you say Optus is horrible. It is not a rugby/soccer ground. It is unsuitable for rugby league. It would be horrible if a Prelim final was ever played at Optus Stadium, and its high school multicourt-style surface.
The other disappointment about playing on ovals, is the legacy placing of Ozzie rules line markings to give some free advertising to competitors.
Ugly and distracting.
Thanks I’ve spent half the game trying to work out what he whinging was aboutYes that extremely faint half circle makes me want to pick up a Sherrin.
f**k me calm down.
People bitch and moan but none of you putzes ever wants to argue straight out ‘ovals are a great viewing experience for footy’.
Always skirting around the edges ‘letting the perfect be the enemy of the good’. f**king lol.
Optus Stadium is shit and will always be shit for our game. End.
You said it was a decent atmosphere at Optus.NOONE IS SAYING ITS AN IDEAL VIEWING GROUND FOR NRL.
What people are saying is that it’s the realms of f**king fantasy to believe that the WA government will drop half a billion dollars on a rectangular stadium when they’ve already got a 20,000 seater and you can use the oval for the one to two games every half decade when they make a prelim.
Grow the f**k up and understand that occasionally being a f**king adult means you have to make the odd compromise.
Are you there? How do you know? You said it was a decent atmosphere at Optus.
It isn’t, it is shit.
The tolerance for it will continue to be contested hothead.
Then you are saying our premium games deserve a second rate viewing experience. That is rubbish.NOONE IS SAYING ITS AN IDEAL VIEWING GROUND FOR NRL.

Mate it’s an oval. Use your imagination. I’ve attended any number of games at ovals and the experience is second rate. Are you there? How do you know?
Are you joking? No f**king way would I waste my money. Are you there? How do you know?
So what’s the alternative? The reality is it’s economically unrealistic to build a 40k capacity rectangle in Perth at this point. Get HBF to a decent 25K and get them a team there, and build some support and maybe it’ll happen in a decade or two. In the meantime the occasional match on an oval won’t destroy the game.Mate it’s an oval. Use your imagination. I’ve attended any number of games at ovals and the experience is second rate.
The threads name is ‘future nrl stadiums’. That’s therefore what I am discussing. If we get a team over there then it should be on the basis we get a true state of the art rectangle stadium to go with it. There are three codes that would use it. It’s a no brainer. So what’s the alternative? The reality is it’s economically unrealistic to build a 40k capacity rectangle in Perth at this point. HBF is getting 18k max currently. Don’t overstate what it is.So what’s the alternative? The reality is it’s economically unrealistic to build a 40k capacity rectangle in Perth at this point. Which is why an NRL club would need a new western stand taking it to 23-25.HBF is getting 18k max currently. Don’t overstate what it is.
Beat me to it. Getting a second matching covered stand built at HBF to take it up to 25K is a reasonable and realistic condition for an NRL side.Which is why an NRL club would need a new western stand taking it to 23-25.

Great, when does construction start?Beat me to it. Getting a second matching covered stand built at HBF to take it up to 25K is a reasonable and realistic condition for an NRL side.
