That Blacktown stadium would’ve been useless
Even for GWSThat Blacktown stadium would’ve been useless
lost to Qatar from memoryThat bid looks quite silly now, doesn’t it.
No it doesn't.Our time zone kills any Men's World Cup dead from a TV perspective.

So sad how rugby league can’t get results out of governments like our afl rivals canYehp, half of them ovals. Townsville got a better deal than that plan to rebuild Dairy Farmers. SFS rebuild not included, Stadium Australia rectangular rebuild not included either. Blacktown would have probably meant Commbank not being built and who would play there afterwards? Canberra would have been a better than nothing compromise, still in the same location.
Newcastle plan looked alright though.
Somehow AFL would have been the winners out of that bid getting new/upgraded stadiums in Perth (happened anyway), Gold Coast & Geelong. Probably would have found a way to get Blacktown as an oval for GWS as well.
No it doesn't.
Blatter said the stand-out reason Australia was never seriously considered as a host was because its location made it unattractive for TV broadcasters and therefore FIFA revenue streams.
“You never had a chance because you were never going to be competitive for the broadcasters,” Blatter said
You’re right but I think that’s because it’s a non issue everywhere but here. We’re unique in that we’re the only country where an oval is better suited to a dominant, rival football code which FIFA might see it being at odds with their legacy requirements. There’s actually nothing in fifas stadium requirement document that excludes ovals, I’m sure it’s not preferable to them but they don’t exclude them.
Thats hilliarious coz, now its like vic govt aren't even wanting the commonwealth games, where a decade ago we were throwing 50mil on just the bidding for the WCSepp Blatter says Australia had ‘no chance’ of winning 2022 World Cup bid, according to whistleblower’s new book

Yeah thats very true, other than Great Britain and New Zealand, ovals aren't really that much of a draw card round the world... .maybe add indiaYou’re right but I think that’s because it’s a non issue everywhere but here. Not the timezone, the broadcasters themselves, imagine theyd be more cashed up entities elsewhere in the world, rather than channel 7 and sbsFIFA say Australia is no chance because of the timezone for broadcasters but allowed Japan to host Something fishy about FIFA as usual
“The failed bid for the 2022 men’s tournament held in Qatar cost taxpayers $46m and was widely criticised after it attracted just one vote from Fifa’s decision-makers. However, Johnson said the success of the Women’s World Cup means another bid is now worth considering.”Stadium issue stands in the way of Australia’s bid for Men’s World Cup

Incorrect. Fifa has very strict guidelines on which stadiums can be used for World Cup matches . This includes how far the seats are from the centre of the pitch. If any seats fall outside this distance the stadium is ineligible to host matches. There’s actually nothing in fifas stadium requirement document that excludes ovals, I’m sure it’s not preferable to them but they don’t exclude them.

This is why the MCG, and every other cricket oval will never be compliant.
That still doesn't change the fact our broadcasters are low scale and fifa want broadcasters that can pay the astronomical amount they are used to, its the very reason we were never considered a decade ago, the chairman of fifa even pointed that out“The failed bid for the 2022 men’s tournament held in Qatar cost taxpayers $46m and was widely criticised after it attracted just one vote from Fifa’s decision-makers.
