And people are calling for clubs to abandon ANZ due to "poor crowds"

ANZ is always has been the most attended Sydney venue since it was built 15 years ago.

Apart from the incentives, thats why Souths and the Bulldogs wish to continue to play there.

If the State Govt's intention to buy out the lease of ANZ comes to fruition, the incentives paid to clubs to play at ANZ will cease to exist.
The stadiums will no longer be "competing" against each other for tenants. It will be up to each individual club (and dare I say it - the NRL) to decide which stadium best suits each team. The clubs will need to hire all stadiums for use, except the Sharks, who are the only NRL team to own their own ground.

This from the Tele today..

The Cabinet meeting will be told at least $350 million should be invested at Sydney Olympic Park’s ANZ Stadium, the city’s biggest venue with 83,500 seats.
Mr Baird is determined to ensure the former Olympics site remains Sydney’s major events sports arena, though work is not likely to begin for about seven years.
He is open to the idea of fully roofing ANZ to provide a weatherproof venue to attract major entertainment acts.
NRL clubs the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs believe ANZ should be converted into a permanent rectangular stadium, with all seats, including the upper tiers and corporate areas, moved closer to the playing field.

NRL chief executive Dave Smith, who has been lobbying for major stadium upgrades for more than 18 months, said the increased investment would drive more business for the NSW economy and create a better experience for fans.
“There is no doubt having world-class stadia in both the city and western suburbs would encourage more people to games and enable them to enjoy the facilities already in place in other states,” Mr Smith said yesterday. “More events will be held in Sydney and that can only mean increased business for hotels, restaurants, bars and other services.”
Mr Baird will insist the NRL guarantee its grand final and at least one State of Origin match be played in Sydney for at least 20 years.
Sport Minister Stuart Ayres and former Liberal leader John Brogden have worked closely with stadium and sports bosses since late last year to develop the plan.
The plan also includes provision for another stadium to be built in Western Sydney, possibly at Penrith or Liverpool, in 10 to 15 years, and new grandstands to be completed at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

This is true. I'll also point out that Penrith Council own Penrith Stadium, but have leased it to Penrith rent free in lieu of the club managing all maintenance etc

30,000-seat Parramatta stadium among NSW Premier's promised $1 billion upgrades

Date September 4, 2015 - 12:45PM

A new 30,000-seat stadium will be built at Parramatta, part of an investment in new and old stadiums in Sydney, worth more than $1 billion.
NSW Premier Mike Baird and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres announced the new stadium on Friday.
They called their overall package the biggest investment in sport and major event infrastructure in NSW since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
There will also be a new rectangular stadium at Moore Park, seating between 50,000 and 55,000, and a new indoor arena near the CBD, Mr Baird said in a release.
The package includes a new outer western Sydney sporting venue, a possible retractable roof and redevelopment of ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park, and the completion of the SCG upgrade.
"A global city like Sydney needs world-class sporting venues and this investment will ensure fans and sporting teams have the facilities they deserve," Mr Baird said.
"Our first priority is building a new 30,000 seat stadium at Parramatta on the site of the existing facility, with work to begin as soon as possible and construction expected to be completed by 2019," he said.
But many questions about the package remain unclear. The government has set aside $600 million from the privatisation of electricity assets to spend on upgrades, but has not said how it would find the rest of the funds.
The locations for some of the new stadiums are also uncertain.
"The upgrades are contingent upon final business cases, design work and the NSW government reaching content agreements with the sporting codes to ensure matches are spread across the stadium network," Mr Ayres said.
"As part of this package, NSW government is negotiating to acquire leasehold management rights for Stadium Australia.
Once this is finalised we will work towards one governing entity for Sydney's stadia network," he said.

Morley, you might want to put in the URL of where you got that from. The mods have a tendency to delete things where people forget to put the URL in (I'm speaking from personal experience).

This is how the ABC are reporting the Stadiums package -

New stadiums to be built in Parramatta and Moore Park under plans unveiled by NSW Government
By State Political Reporter Sarah Gerathy

The New South Wales Government has announced a billion dollar overhaul of the state's sporting stadium, including plans to build new stadiums at Parramatta and Moore Park.

Premier Mike Baird said it is the biggest investment in sporting and major event infrastructure in NSW since the Sydney Olympics.

The first project in the package will be a new 30,0000 seat stadium at Parramatta in Sydney's south, which would be completed by 2019.

The plan also includes a new rectangular stadium at Moore Park in Sydney's east, seating between 50,000 to 55,000 people, a new indoor arena near the CBD, an outer western Sydney sporting venue and the completion of the SCG upgrade.

The Government is looking to acquire the lease of Olympic Stadium to redevelop it, which could potentially include building a retractable roof.

It said $600 million has already been set aside for the package as part of Rebuilding NSW and it will allocate more funding in the future.

Mr Baird said the package is dependent on sporting codes agreeing to put on major match on in NSW and he wants the NRL grand final to remain in Sydney.

"The longer we can keep it here the better and the critical part of this process is to ensure, whether it be the NRL, whether it be the soccer, whether it be Rugby Union, we're going to ensure this city will get the best events it can for the next generation," he said.

So it looks like the NRL Grand Final may be staying in Sydney for the foreseeable future.

Would be nice if the NRL Grand Final could be held in Brisbane every now and then. For example if two non Sydney teams were to make the final.

Thing is, considering when GF tickets go on sale, you don't know who will be in the GF that year. As such a bit hard to program it for when two non-Sydney teams make it to the GF.

The NSW Government have been very vocal they won't spend the money on the stadiums unless the NRL commits to keeping the Grand Final and at least 1 Origin game in Sydney.

So 30k at Parra is guarenteed. New stadium at moore park to be done in next decade and same with indoor sporting facility.

SCG and ANZ boards removed/merged.

Something done to ANZ. 1.6bn total. Good news, can't wait for details.

Why the hell do the Eels need a 30,000 seat stadium? Have they promised the government they'll stop being completely shithouse at some point in the next 50 years?

Will be awkward when the Wanderers crowds go to piss too.

Allianz is ugly, hopefully they sort it out.

It's going to feel weird one day if we have a Perth vs Warriors/NZ2 grand final in Sydney. It's the perfect meeting place for them though I suppose.

Champions league final and NFL final both often happen in towns that don't have a team playing in it.

Glad to see the NSW government continues to acknowledge the rest of the state exists.

Oh whats that?

Carry on then.

We had to beg for half a job... we still have shipping containers for corporate boxes and a 50inch HiSense for a "big screen".

But no, Allianz definitely needs to be demolished and rebuilt first.
