So do I. I particularly love the peanuts who wail about them in the crowd thread.

There are already talks of boycotts and the Sharks facebook pages are filled with people claiming that they wont attend games at ANZ or Allianz. So how is scheduling games there going to improve attendance?

Maybe the people who don't want to go to Woolooware will go to the games
Maybe the whingers will go to the SFS if the Sharks are winning

And the whole thing about penrith being excluded on the premise of some fantasy stadium 30 years away also stinks. Maybe more to do with mr ayers and were his seat is me thinks.
Agree with that
Penrith should get 1 or 2 games at Parra/Homebush

Manly are from Manly and want to play in Manly. Cronulla are from Cronulla and want to play in Cronulla. What's so hard to understand about that for you people?
Manly and Cronulla benefit from NRL grants derived from people outside of Cronulla and Manly

But being unwilling to move 1 match a year to a stadium in the same city to help out the game while also failing to see the potential opportunity for your own club is ridiculously short-sighted.

yeah but the its the number of games. taking 4 away from shark park and manly.

two is ok. IMO you play two games at SFS and do em at double headers with Manly or another club.

how is that Penrith aren't a part of this again?

Penrith should be part of this. I like a East Vs West for the second weekend of the Easter show (Friday night) . Same with the north v south (Cronulla vs Manly on Sunday afternoon) at the Olympic stadium. They can just flip who is the home team each year. May as well take advantage of the crowds at the location at this time of year. And offers similar to what the parra/wests game did with $10 entry and that the stadium trust ensures that good money will be made out of it for the home team, makes it a no brainer in my book.

Easter show can always be the festival of football with this sort of setup on 2 weekends.

Building a new stadium at Moore Park is a huge waste of NSW tax payers money, the SFS can be upgraded for a tenth of the cost of a new stadium. The big problem is bar/food and toilets. You can modify the stadium to increase and improve these areas.

All NSW tax payers should be up in arms about this colossal waste of money in replacing one of the best viewing stadiums in Australia !!!

Also joins the queue to buy this man a beer!

And for those arguing over the 65 games figure - If we added 2 more rounds to the regular season, which we should be doing anyhow, the problem is a lot nearer to being solved.

Dont worry the clubs Will ensure the Panthers are part of this deal.

Penrith should take Eels, Dogs and Souths to ANZ stadium with reciprocal rights. Watch the crowd ave increase overnight.

If they rebuild the inner bowl of ANZ and put a roof on like they are planning to then ANZ becomes a whole lot more enticing for live sport.

The ANZ Stadium permanent Rectangular plan includes the rebuild of ALL seats, including level 6.

option-2.jpg

This requires the demolition of all seating levels, leaving just the shell/roof of the stadium.
Roof will be then made retractable
Expensive, yes, possible over $1Billion but this is the solution that is required for Sydney.

Anything better than spending $800Mill(todays paper $1.2Bill) on a complete white elephant that no ones wants, the SFS.

that looks awesome

spend money on That for sure.

As long as steep seating on all levels it will make the viewing so much better

Looks like Manly/Skarks/Dragons/Wests will have to commit very little to the stadium strat.

The pressure on clubs to take matches away from suburban grounds has eased with the NRL to include State of Origin and finals matches as part of a 65-game commitment at major stadiums.

The addition of an estimated eight premium matches to the commitment will mean the NRL will need to find just seven additional regular season games between Manly, Cronulla, St George Illawarra and the Wests Tigers.

We are regional. It's too far to go to games at ANZ. Same reason Manly and Sharks fans won't travel to SFS. Those that say they will clearly haven't taken kids to the footy or in a fantasy land

This. If anything it'd be a detriment to the already sub-par attendance for Panthers games.

I think Panthers should be included and not Dragons and heres why

You make them move another game you know they will take it from Wollongong. that's unfair on those fans. they are part of the merger. they shouldn't lose one of their games in the gong.
So if you keep the Dragons with what they are doing.
You have Cronulla and Manly play two at the SFS
You have Wests and Penrith Play two at ANZ
That's 8.
Then all the Sydney based teams (that don't include a regional centre) are in at least a little bit.

Wollongong are regional as well.
So if the Dragons have to take more games they have to be from Kogarah.

I'm not going to watch the Sharks play footy at ANZ or SFS or Allianz or wherever
Why the f**k should I?
I don't support a team that is in a bitch of a place for to get to.
It'll be on TV...A big stadium with nobody in it will look shit on TV ...Just like it does every single weekend they show a game there .
My team will still get paid to play there.
I bet I'm not alone there

Momentum is growing in Auckland for (what I presume will be called) Vodafone Stadium in downtown Auckland.

Plus we already play 4 'home games' at other venues

lets use that idea. What sort of crowd do you think you would pull with say Panthers v Sharks at ANZ on a Thursday night?

You wouldn't get back to Penrith before 11pm. That means in bed by 11.30. I imagine it's the same for getting to Manly or Cronulla from SFS.

So just make a target of patrons to attend the games over a year. Then we can pretty much have every Sunday at 2pm there. Public Holidays etc and drop the prices to get people in. I'd pay even $10 to go to a game there and sit behind the posts. I won't pay $30 like it is now

Do you go to every Sharks home game at Shark Park?

If you currently go to 8-10 of the 12, the move to SFS/ANZ probably doesn't impact you that greatly. It probably doesn't impact on the majority in that they will still be able to attend their 8-10 matches at Shark Park.

For those fans that go to all 12 home games there will be an imposition, but I'd reckon it is on a small minority of the average home crowd.

The games at SFS/ANZ may attract other existing fans and maybe some new.

The real problem as I see it is the NRL are rubbish at scheduling fixtures... They'd probably have Sharks v. Titans at SFS on Monday night.
