It's a decent point despite how mundane you might find it.
No, it's not. The NSW government has a budget of $80b every year. It spends this in many different ways. It balances its budget as it sees fit. No amount of money is going to solve all of the state's problems. Underspending stadium infrastructure comes at a cost to the state, just like underspending on health, or education, or the environment.

They never sorted out the school aircon or demountables in the 15 years since they last spent anything substantial on stadiums but suddenly a new stadium is the #1 issue causing children to literally fry in their own classrooms.

It's amusing how Fitzy thinks everything comes from the same pot of money. Doesn't seem to have the faintest clue how government budgets work.

And budgets are constructed based on the direction and intentions of the government of the time. So yes, it mostly is the same pot of money.

Well that's what we're talking about, isn't it?

A lot of people don't think this is a productive use of money.

If you think budgeting is as simple as "take this expenditure here and redirect it here" you don't understand it at all.

For example, consideration given to the ability of the expended item/s to generate new income for the state. Like say, event venues and the like?

That's exactly what budgeting is.

Have you ever seen a budget that has pleased everyone???
Precisely. I've objected to the obscene levels of defence spending by the federal government but I accept that it happens.

yep, i know this mate. So then why is the potential state gov treating them like one with this
‘loan’ bullshit.

I thought it was obvious. It is hollow politics.

Polly: "Look at how good we are with money. We get the stadium, but we have struck a much better deal where we get the money back later"
Reporter: "But, Sir, dont you wont the assent? Dont you get the money back anyway?"
Polly: "This loan will ensure that NSW tax payers will get back EVERY CENT spent on the stadiums"
Reporter: "But how is a loan different?"
Polly: "......... It just does. Shut up!"

Surely we are all well aware of how this worked. The idea is to cut through the messaging and see what they have REALLY said. So far i can only see "We will build a smaller SFS. And ANZ? no comment."

So what you're basically saying is that you're happy for our defence force to have inferior capabilities and you want our country invaded.

This stuff has been budgeted for. They can't just change it.

Old hanky head is the chairperson of the Australian republic movement.

Until there are no dead fish in rivers, every classroom has an aircon and the health system is perfect than no government money can be spent on a referendum on the republic .

How many hundreds of millions to hold (another) referendum, change the parliament, name of the country, money, flag, and who knows what else over a purely symbolic head of state?

WHAT ABOUT THE SCHOOL AIR CONS???????

At least the country is over 100 years old so we did get some value out of the current system. Unlike the stadiums which will need to be replaced in another 20 years.

All you've done here is enforce your simplistic views on the way governments do their job and therefore your lack of understanding.
