I know hh1908 posted a tweet the other day with this photo but the pic really is the best I've seen of the interior of the stadium to date. I just thought I'd post it again for posterity.
Seriously, there's not a bad seat in the joint.
Click on the image for full size. It's looks amazing.

could just be the angle but would these seats not be a bit obstructed?

I have been digging around the web for an idea of what my bargain option would be for the SFS. I'd be modelling it on:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Investors_Group_Field

- Built eight years ago for C$200 million.
- Holds 33,500.
- Roof coverage keeps all seats on the sidelines (~85% total) dry to the fence.
- Separate upper tiers would allow the trust to keep a dedicated members area.
- Corporate boxes in the right spot.
- Flat ends for concert set up AND adding ~7,000 temporary seats for big matches.
- Big enough for Wallabies tests, Waratahs semi-finals Socceroos matches, A-League derby's, week 1 and 2 semis and ANZAC Day.

Please and thankyou.

Yuck!!!

It looks like something Meriton would spew up.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

That's why we will probably get something exactly like that if this other abomination of a mob get in.

Jeez we make everything so f**king hard and complicated in this State and Nation that should be very simple and good.

No brainer really, 40-45K fully covered stadium over Central Station. Dust the rest. Nothing else comes close on all fronts that can capture the public's heart and imagination and that is exactly what you want from a stadium. The people's hearts. Sport is an emotion for most people. When we present it in lack luster and or difficult to get to venues, the emotional pull drops substantially. Hence half and three quarters empty stadiums.

This will never change in Sydney unless we build the right Stadium in exactly the right place. The Sydney Football Stadium is not in the right place no matter what it ends up being. The Roosters will never be a Parramatta Eels when it comes to supporters filling a stadium weekly. Therefore you need to make sure that it is in a location that will attract more then the small pool of fickle Rooster supporter that most weekend couldn't be f**ked.

Central Station can do that in spades. Build it and they will come. Don't and keep it where it is and after the initial hype you will get what you have had for the last 30 odd years. An empty cavernous embarrassment.

One guess as to what is going to ultimately happen?

A stadium built over the rail yards at Central Station is too good an idea for it to ever happen.

Yep.

This would be the perfect answer for the inner city stadium.

- Return the land Allianz is on to the Centennial Park Trust for parkland - win/win.
- Upset the SCG Trust - win/win.
- Stadium perfectly located near entertainment and dining precincts - win/win.
- Stadium perfectly located to huge amount of transport options - win/win.
- Stadium perfectly located for city office workers - win/win.
- Use under utilized air space over railway lines - win/win.

It's all so perfect our politicians will never go for it.

I'm sure this would be protested by all. And Heritage issues for Central?

There’s so much they could do with the reclaimed space from decking over the rail yards. Yes, build a stadium but you could also build residential, retail and commercial buildings as well alongside it and even include plenty of public space. How often does a big chunk of land open up in a city the size of Sydney? It’s such a great opportunity - all it needs is a bit of vision.

I think they said building residential on it is too heavy, stadiums are apparently light.

So would most people. I think the odds of the $750m Nu-SFS are pretty slim even if Gladys holds on somehow.

Yes agreed. But that is the problem. Not enough if any people will stand up and argue their point and fight for what should and would be the best solution, for this country at least, the biggest game changer ever for rectangular sport.

Notice not one, not one so called footy journalist has even brought up the proposal of a Central Station Stadium but they periodically bring up discussions of bad crowds and how it is a terrible look for the game and that it ultimately doesn't attract fans and sponsors to the sport and then ask for what can be done and a dumb arse round table of blockheads throw up a handful of tried and failed ideas and then round it off with well something has to be done or things will never improve or get even worse, then move on and it is forgotten for a few months and the same s**t discussion is repeated. Ahhhh, so freakin frustrating!!!

Well now here is a brilliant idea that has never been floated before and to whoever doesn't have an agenda it is a dick stiffening moment when you take it all in and think through what it all could mean for our rectangular sports. But NOTHING!

Not one freakin comment even on say 360 or 100% Footy or Matty Johns Show or League Life or the Sunday Footy Show or anywhere else that I could see. How pathetic? What a bunch of hopeless lumps who just sit there and mostly talk about nothing more then what the average punter can also see for themselves. The ex-footy players rarely regurgitate anything that hasn't already been said before or told to them and most seem to be more interested in golf and punting on their days off and the journalists are more interested in controversy and negative gossip for the game to promote their own profile.

But when it comes to a real game changer, but one that they need to put their balls out there and get them kicked around by the different factions out there that will...nothing. This is the sort of thing that needs constant attention and discussion to keep it alive and get momentum on its side. The pollies will not act and reverse anything if there is not a groundswell of support from the media and the fans. It is as simple as that. But it will never happen if all those well paid high profile media types don't even open their mouths other then to swallow the free booze and food they get at the back in the green room or at all the parties and functions they get invited to.

Fair enough. But still - you could use that reclaimed space for a lot of different things. Might be more palatable to the decision makers if they stress how it would benefit the public as a whole.
