Also. You are from Perth & don't try to hide your love of everything AFL so it's no surprise you just DONT GET tribalism in RL
Especially in SYD .
That is all
There endeth your lesson for today .
haha, if 12k crowds is tribalism you can keep it, our non tribalism play in a state of the art shared stadium with no booster of away fans has one club getting 53k and the other 41k avg's! Wonder which works best?????

Certain Sydney teams like souths, Parra probably dragons have strong support right across the city and can drag good crowds most places. But clubs like Penrith and cronulla will struggle is they move 15 minutes from their little suburb because that is where all their fans are. They have no wider appeal.
Agreed, Wests are also one of those teams with wide support.

hopefully the NRL do the right thing then & schedule as many Penrith home games at Parramatta in 2023 for saturdays & sundays making it easier to get to games.

Unfortunately , Penrith will still be a leading team in the comp then & Ch 9 will insist on plenty of Thursday & Friday nights for them.

There lies the issue and the reservation from the fans in my circle.

We have 1 Sunday game
1 Sat night game at home this year.

I don't see much change in the top 4 so likely gets similar next year

Tigers have wasted 20 odd years not using Campbelltown more. It has been a growth area for awhile and is growing even more. If Campbelltown Stadium gets an upgrade then no reason it can't stay like this
They get terrible crowds there, I'm not surprised they play a min number of games there that they can. In the last 6 years the crowd avg at Campbelltown has been under 10k for 4 of them! I keep hearing how the area is a large unserviced area yet the fans don't seem to be going to games in the area?

Combination of Tigers doing very little in the area and Campbelltown getting dud games.
You think there would be a ticket left if they played Dragons or Roosters there? Instead they get Cows or GC

NSWRL has created a new country RL conference out there

The exact same Growth Penrith is getting due to the Airport Campbelltown is getting at the other end. By 2041 1m extra people are projected to be in the area.

It needs more than upgrade though. It needs a total rebuild

So you’re saying they can only get a crowd there if they’re playing a team that will bring some supporters? That suggests there isn’t much of a home crowd in the area?

Sounds like there is some off-field lobbying for government funds in Campbelltown in progress

Preference IMO is still a shared new venue for the dogs & tigers. Long term its the best solution for the code rather then some lipstick on Campbelltown & the dogs staying at soulless Homebush.
Unless...
significant improvements are made to Campbelltown (aka Brookvale ) & The Dogs still get a new stadium in Liverpool

IMO Balmain fans are resigned to the fact their joint venture club is all but taken over by Wests atm & seeing as they seemingly will not travel to the south west , will only get to see their club live at places like the new SFS V the Roosters / Souths
At Homebush V the Dogs ( til they move ) & maybe the traditional Easter Monday Clash V Parramatta can be played at Homebush every 2nd year when they host it .

Campbelltown has always been too small of an area for a team. It is bigger than Penrith and Cronulla but do we really want more small burbs in the comp?

Bigger then Manly too

And they're not thinking about next week , they're planning for the next 30 years where the Macarthur area is expected to double in population to around 700K

I don’t think the government (certainly not the long term planning folks in the civil service) want to build a stadium at Liverpool. The Sydney master plan has decided where the third CBD will be and it’s not Liverpool. It’s the new city of Bradfield out beyond the end of the Leppington branch, on the south-east side of the new Western Sydney airport. *That’s* where the government is happy to offer land, talk funding and public transport.

Bradfield Bulldogs?

Bump.

Those pushing Liverpool and Campbelltown are not looking at it with the same time horizon as the government. I suspect the attitude there would be: sure, knock yourself out if you want to fund It privately. But we’re busy funding and building an entirely new CBD over the next 15-20 years at Bradfield and that CBD will have it’s own park lands and stadium. Anything we build at Liverpool or Campbelltown will be on the fringes of this new city, not at its heart etc etc.

Thing is, if the government want to set aside some land in Bradfield that's earmarked for a stadium, that's one thing, but even then, Bradfield is still 20 years away from being any hub. While a stadium at Liverpool, or fixing up Campbelltown can be done now and service the area until Bradfield is ready for such at thing. No one is putting a stadium in Bradfield until it actually is it's own new CBD. I think the NRL really needs to work with the government on this one.

Why is a travelling away fan worth less than a home fan to a club? Fans doubling by attending away games adds value to the code. Following on from your WCE/Freo/AFL crowds stats, what is better - 43K home fans only for a Freo game, with silence when the opposition score, or twice that number and triple the atmosphere when Collingwood play Richmond? Or in NRL terms, Storm games in Melbourne don't have the atmosphere of a Parra/Souths v Sydney club game and never will.

A team based out of concord that plays more home games elsewhere... Of course they struggle in that area.
Nothing that can't be fixed though
