The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

QE2 was the worst "home" venue I've been too I reckon, 50m+ from the action, in the middle of suburbia with aluminium seats on a slope that you could barely see above the person in front of you.

Yeah those aluminium based stands were like sitting on a stove's hot plate in the warmer weather. I only went to about 6 games there over the years, but the first time it was sitting in one of those stand and after being "deep fried" by the stand, I made sure I never sat in one again.

$3.8Billion to keep the criminals abit more comfortable

More of my tax payer dollars going to something i hopefully will never use.

1.2 Million a bed. Must be a Presidential Suite for all the Convicts.

Pisses me off Stadiums are the only thing complained about when there is Billions spent elsewhere that

still such a small number over 30 years considering theres $87.2 Billion allocated spending in NSW over next 4 years alone.

Only stadia that RL will benefit out of are whinged about. SCG upgrades and GWS stadium got through just fine.

If labor win, I reckon they’ll offer a small interest loan. This will probably scale back the stadium, to a more reasonable cost. Then when labor get the boot at the next election. The libs will make a deal to keep the grand final in Sydney and pay the loan themselves.

Right now is the time to start campaigning for the stadium above Central.

Leave ANZ alone and turn the SFS into park land then use the remaining funds to build a stadium over Central. $1.5billion should do it.

I agree. That stadium over central would really be something else.
If the trust can build apartments/high rises in replace of SFS, they would go for it. ANZ will eventually get a remake of some sort in the future.

Why the f#@k does the AFL own a ground in Cairns and the NRL don't own one at all? We need to start looking at this kind of thing. The AFL own a number of grounds. The only close equivelant in RL is the Sharks and Redcliffe Dolphins but they are owned by those clubs, not the NRL.

I think it's owned by the local assocation, not the AFL itself - and the reason from my understanding is because they built it some 60-odd years ago.

Cazaly's (AFL park) isn't owned by the AFL from what I understand, it's just that the location(on a main road) coupled with copious poker machines allowed the associated Leagues Club to poor serious money into there football oval.(including importing the old GABBA stadiums)

The CDRL have a Council run venue (Barlow Park) which holds NRL games now, but it's well below standard

Good to hear if true - the Wiki page for Cazaly's is saying that it is owned by ALF Cairns
