Cheers mate!

It is a nice looking stadium but looks too small. Should be a great at atmosphere though!

Looks great! 18,000-ish right?

Can't wait to watch a game there some day...
Yeah, roughly 18,000. Although I read somewhere that the capacity that Saints have set for the terracing sections is quite a bit less than the legally allowed limit for that amount of terracing, and that the stadium would hold over 20,000 if the terracing was filled to the legal limit. I'm not sure why this is but we could possibly see the stadium hold bigger crowds than 18,000 in the future.

Wow, that's odd. Still if it doesn't go under 18k though it's still a good size. I was surprised to see two of the corners not filled either. Only a minor detail, but I thought from all the plans I had seen that it went all the way around.

Great looking stadium. I hope there is a phase 2 planned to increase capacity by 4 or 8 thous?

its not uncommon to have a 'health & safety certificate' for less than the actual capacity

I went back to Headingley last year for the first time since the new East stand was built, and I felt quite disoriented - massive difference to the place. The new South Stand will hopefully be good, I'm just not sure what can be done about the Western Terrace with the path right behind it and houses literally right behind that.

Its really good to see some new grounds being built and clubs actually following through with refurbishing grounds. Although I'm a bit sad about the Willows as it was one of my favourite grounds.

BTW when I first moved here I went to the old Lang Park a few times and it was a dreadful ground - Ballymore was better. Suncorp Stadium is amazing by comparison - big, modern and easy to get to. I used to live in Milton, and could walk to the stadium on matchday.

is 18k adequate for St Helens??

I would have thought a 22-24k seater would have been more appropriate for them.

Though they're a fairly big and well-supported club their attendances very rarely hit that high. It would be better for representative or bigger matches though.

Exclusive: Costing error forces Hull KR stadium delays

Published on Wednesday 24 August 2011 15:00

DELAYS to a new multi-million pound stadium development in Hull were caused by developers under-pricing the project by £750,000.

The £6.4m scheme to develop Hull Kingston Rovers’ ground Craven Park has been beset by problems but was expected to be signed off by the city council early next month so building work could finally start.
However the Yorkshire Post can reveal that it was under-budgeted by several hundred thousand pounds, forcing the project to go back out to competitive tender and raising fears it may not go ahead.
Sources close to the deal said they were shocked to be asked if the additional cost could be taken on board, and now the bidding process will start again.
It is understood that the earliest it will now be approved will be December, and may well be next year.
Hull Council, which is funding the project, said they remain “committed to seeing it through”.
Councillor Steven Bayes, portfolio holder for economic regeneration and employment, said: “Although there have been some minor delays, we are fully committed to working with Hull KR on the project. The training and enterprise centre project has been designed taking into account some of the opportunities that could be created from Hull’s ambition to attract investment from, and become a UK centre for, the renewable sector.”
Outline designs suggest the 3,600-capacity stand north stand will provide office space for 40 new start-up businesses as well as housing Sirius business support agency and adult education training.
Despite the problems the club remains confident the stand will be ready in time for the 2013 season with chief executive Mike Smith stating it “remains a top priority”.
“The north stand is a hugely anticipated project and this announcement will, I’m sure, be met with further disappointment and frustration by some of our fans and we share your disappointment to some extent,” he said.
“However, this does need to be put into perspective. In what are still very challenging times economically the council’s commitment towards this project has never been in question and the club has been informed that this still remains the case.
“This is a hugely important project not only for our club and supporters, but for generating new jobs and driving growth in this part of the city.
“Therefore, this venture is one of significant interest and importance.
“As ever, discussions with the council remain positive and a start date of January 2012 is now being worked towards.”

I just found this on worldstadia...

"The Capacity of Craven Park is 9471 this is made up by East Stand - 4000 North Stand - 1271(Seated) South Stand - 1600 West Stand - 2000(Seaed) Well Area - 600"

So, if this info is correct, north stand is being increased by 2329, making the new capacity 11,800...

They're moving the temporary stand from north to south when the new north stand is built. I assume that means losing the terracing at that end.
