Atkinson's passing in the trial was poor wasn't it? So not surprised to see him just run and not overplay. Seems Fitz likes to play the long, patient game and keep things very simple for rookies, whilst also keeping said rookies on ice and not throwing them in asap and having them burnt out after half a season and their careers hanging in the balance by the time they're 22 which seems to happen a lot.
Like what Ricky is doing to Chevy Chase. Who will be finished and cooked by the time he is 22.

Nicho got the Dally M gongs.
He's on top of that table with 22.

Nicho Hynes 6, Blayke Brailey 2, Jesse Ramien 2, Sione Katoa 1, Daniel Atkinson 1
They got the Dally Ms right for once.

BB has been great this year. Very good in every game except for the Tigers. He has never grouped that many good games together so is really promising.

The one question remaining is if BB can deliver against the top teams. He’ll get that chance over the next 6 weeks and we’ll know if he’s arrived as one of the best hookers on the game. It does feel different this year, I’m sure he’s clicked up a gear

Exactly, Ilias was another that springs to mind. He was thrown in as the chosen one and Reynolds let go when he still had so much to offer and his game (pre injury) has suffered from it. I guess you run the risk of losing young players who want the starting jersey and big $ right now but particularly as a half you'd be better off learning from one of the best in that situation.

Definitely seems to have stepped it up a notch this last few weeks. Really looking forward to the next month to see where he's/we're at.

In regards to BB,

Interesting that you mention that horrible, horrible game he had against the West Tigers.

Maybe he got the biggest rocket he’s had in his whole career and in no uncertain terms got told this is what we need from you and if you don’t start doing it we’ll look for someone who can.

Definitely looking much better in recent games.

I need to add something, and this doesn't seem to be so flavoursome on this forum
Brailey was outstanding.
And he has been for a few weeks.
It's almost as if Fitz has kept him in his shell until he had some fundamentals down pat.
Blayke is most definitely starting to play some more eyes-up footy.

I've been as down on Brails as the next guy for a while now, but there's no denying he's playing the best he has for years now.
Promising signs indeed.

One thing I have been mulling over recently is, touch wood, I can't remember the last time missed a game through injury. No mean feat when you clock up 40+ tackles week in, week out.
He's obviously meticulous with his prep and rehab.

On Atkinson - meh.
He did some good things, but none of them the kind of things I'm looking for from my five eighth.
I feel he's only warming the seat till either Tricky returns or Dykes is ready.

Brailey has stepped it up and looks good - reasses in 6 weeks to see where he’s at. Currently respectfully bullying fair sides - but keen on the next month or so, not just him but the side itself.
Whilst not blinding, I thought Aitkinson was solid, great signs for a team that many felt would see the sky fall in earlier last week.
Well done all

I can see it. But the way the cap is balanced I think we keep Williams/Iro and make no other moves. Maybe they swap Hunt for someone else.

I can also see us going into next year with the deepest and most stacked middle.

We do need to find a back up half. If one goes down we are faced with Puru.
I think next year as well Hosking will be in top 30, another young one coming through, that's what you want.
Also Colquhoun is to come back like a new player added to squad

I don't think he was coached to be much more than 'meh' yesterday. Noticed that early in the game he seemed to be defending out wide, I assume to protect him a bit. Other than that I think he did exactly what he was told to do. Of course, he'll need to step it up a bit in the coming weeks, but for someone that came in late and unexpected I thought he was fine.

He put that kick in for Ronaldo when he nearly scored, if he had scored then it's a brilliant kick
And we should have got a penalty from it as well

Fitzy said in the presser he had a limited role and he did what was asked.

You have to give new players a decent run before making judgement.

Can see Atkinson being an improved version of Moylan if he is given time at 6.
He’ll be given time for sure.

Trindall won’t be back anytime soon.

Dykes has to Prove he’s not brittle.

Best place for him atm is NSW Cup getting games under his belt.

One could argue if he put in a better kick Ronaldo would've been a better chance of scoring. I thought the kick was ordinary.

Fair points from others about him having a limited role and only doing what he was asked, I hope it's a case of that and he does warm into the role. From what I've seen him so far in firsts and for the Jets I'm not convinced he is a viable long-term solution at five eighth.
