Rather fantastically done considering the budgetary constraints typically associated with television. It definitely felt more like a battle than Blackwater which, at times, had a feeling of being 'too small' for the scope it was trying to portray.
Some fantastic action in this one. Brilliantly choreographed individual fights (Tormund/Thorne and Snow/Magnar were great) and some great individual moments within it all. I can't recall if Pyp or Grenn died at this point in the books, so I was both shocked and saddened to see them go - particularly Grenn.
Was a bit stunned that it ended where it did, but that saves the real stuff for the finale. Quite a few surprises to be packed into next week's episode for those who haven't read the books.
And I'll admit, even knowing it was coming, I shed a tear when Ygritte went down. I'm glad that they went down the route of showing exactly who killed her (even if it was that kid) rather than leaving it open to the idea that Jon himself might have done it.
