I wrote a big post because you said my comment didn't make sense.

I mean he is playing origin and expected to lead us to a premiership as a halfback so he's gone beyond a rookie who's finding his feet. Basically what you've said about his reputation and as such is going to start attracting criticism just like every other player in the game.

Going forward the biggest issue for Nathan Cleary has been the media hype and expectations surrounding him. His strengths are well known and his debut origin series was pretty solid in playing to his strengths. For the remainder of this season and next it would be hoped he would improve those areas where he needs to take his game to a higher level. I see no reason why he cannot improve his overall game management, kicking game and try assists but again as I have said many times previously he will never reach the lofty heights of an Andrew Johns, Greg Alexander or other elite half backs. Hopefully his resigning will be a three year deal at most which would be mutually beneficial to both Nathan and the Panthers and not come at the expense of Kikau, Blake etc.

Sherwin won as many premierships as NQ did with Thurston.

Didn't play for as long though. To have a 10 year half (in theory anyway) that kicks at 90% and has won semis and Origin series. Will always attract attention his name has just started the talk early

As a Rugby League fan I am very happy with this news. Not too fussed on how it impacts club footy. International is where the game has potential to grow the most.

Agree though how it impacts teams and salary caps is my issue

We are like union. Will be better on the international scene than domestically in Aus compared to AFL until League becomes irrelevant because the NRL is run by idiots who can't make the domestic game strong.

I dunno. Sharks seem to hate us more.

I think were better off with 17 fresh guys who trained together than including our Origin guys. But it means we're now missing:

1. Edwards
2. Dwz
3. Peachey
5. Mansour
6. Maloney
7. Cleary
8. RCG
9. Wallace
10. Browne
14. Mckendry

It's insane to think we're missing 10 players and arent being ruled out by bookies at $10 odds. Take 10 guys out of any other team and they are no chance at all

I'd rather fringe players playing for say Tonga v decent players than doing boring pre seasons.

First thing the club should do with Cleary is fix his kicking. It might be the simplest thing to work on and I think it’ll give him a lot of confidence.

The bold all were starting players before injury or rep duties. Peachey will probs be benched and Big Sam you could exclude but he was a starting player this year.
