Fascinating. I wonder how long before Trent becomes 'TIRED' ?

Gould would be a far better administrator if he stopped meddling in the coaching side of things.

If you want to coach.....coach.....If you want to be a suit administer. But this continual picking around the edges, going over the coach is a disaster waiting to happen.

(yes I know the Gould fans will bite me for this, but in my eyes it's the truth. Phil stop meddling.)
I was not a fan of the way Cleary was brought back, but I have to say Cleary, in his first stint, was WIDE awake in comparison to Trent. Trent took our U20s down as has did with Manly and now doing with the Dogs. He is a dead man walking, not just 'tired'. No comparison - in his first stint here Cleary won games and was competitive. Something Trent has never been.

To be honest I wasn't a fan either.

I thought Cleary was 'unlucky' to be sacked at the end of 2015. That was one of the Gould calls I didn't agree with. Couldn't understand it, in fact.

Barrett comes across as one of those coaches who struggles to make the grade in NRL. Don't know the man, nor much about his coaching creditionals either.

I still can't comprehend that, why would any NRL team give him a head Role as coaching, knowing his U20s record? Maybe it's who you know?

I've never got the hate for Barrett at all - it's so strange. A couple of people I know (and trust) have said he's a genuinely nice fella and he seems to come across that way in interviews etc.

Whether he's a good head coach is an entirely different question though.

maybe that's the issue - maybe Trent is too nice on the players (cant blame him, kids these days are soft as butter)

Calling him a poor coach isn't a hate thing - it's purely a judgement of his coaching abilities. Few of us know him personally so t has nothing to do with his personality.

Maybe not aimed at you directly - but there are plenty of people on here taking great pleasure in the woes of the Bulldogs. We could probably fill a sub-forum with all the Bulldogs related posts since Baz decided to leave us.

I don't like the Bulldogs because it is my belief that Baz got the job because he was close to many of our players. But that's as far as it goes. I feel sorry for Burton as he is struggling, but I wish him every success. To be quite honest, I really only follow Penrith, the rest of the NRL are just teams we need to beat...

I find it almost amusing that any critical comment about a player or coach is seen by some as a 'hate thing'.

That is incorrect.

At this point in time Barrett is a very poor coach. I don't know the bloke, don't know much about him, except that he's a cousin of Liam Martin's mother, and at one time he played for St George. That is basically the limit of my knowledge.

Anyone whose coaching record remembles Barrett obviously has an issue with his performance. (of coaching)

Not Baz related for me.

Remember the Bred not Bought from a few years ago?

Look at them now. Paying overs for hacks.

The NRL is a results driven business and coaches have a short career expectancy if there results are not good.

I think there is a lot of media spin around events at the Bulldogs this week with Gus allegedly given the players a spray post loss to the Broncos and then apparently taking control of a training session. Personally, I don’t like either approach as it is nor generally in the job description of a General Manager of Football to do either. At the same time perhaps there were valid reasons sanctioned by Trent to allow for Gus to take such action.

Either way, it is not a good look, and unlikely to suddenly turn around the clubs fortunes.

I have no idea what the future holds for Trent, his team or the club, even without a good spine, they should be doing better than they are. I hope for Trent’s sake he can get some wins on the board, not against us mind you, and is able to salvage his coaching career.

If Barrett or an assistant aren't capable of such a spray then they should be let go.
That is how Gus should step in not do it himself

If Trent isn’t up to the task it is Gould’s job to sack him.

As General Manager it is not his job to give the players a spray.

Trent deserves to see the season out and in my opinion the decision whether to retain him or sack him can properly be made at the end if the season.

At some stage they need to work towards next year. So Barrett if he is going needs to go so planning can begin

It’s really not our concern.

Who really cares what the Dogs do.

Personally I hope Trent gets to see out the season and if things do not improve well that is life.

Will be interesting who will be on the bench when Leota returns. Neither Spencer or Eisenuth deserves to be dropped so maybe -

Lenui
Eisenuth
Sorrenson
Luke

Also Charlie may have to give way to May when To'o returns.
