I’m just not a fan of players running the asylum.

You can argue maybe Kevvie wasn’t the man for the job, but the way in which the players lay down at the back end of this season just doesn’t sit well with me. It’s all well and good I suppose happy to see your coach hung out to dry but there fan base deserved better.

It happened twice under his watch which is the concerning part.

No one goes to work to do a bad job. If the environment sucks you'll see standards slip and he has to be accountable for that. Probably the head office too.

If they had their time over they'd keep Ikin and ditch Walters. Ikin started sorting out their roster week 1 of his arrival. Responsible for culling a few players and bringing in Reynolds. Never should have left. It looks even worse for Walters when he was the one who wanted him gone.

That is the issue as I see it the 2022. 3rd to 9th drop across the last 5 weeks of the season into this year.

Reece Walsh for example wasn't at the club in 2022, So the one thing that was the same was Walters

if they buy into Madge - they will be a fit team - could be a resurgence

alot of flashy players in that team though - they can blow teams away but they can also look so poor defensively

Players running the asylum only happens when the coach is out of his depth. The players aren't just built different under Bellamy, Bennett, Ivan etc.

I just get disappointed for people like Yeo and Ivan who genuinely deserve to get recognised but get looked over for journo pets like Tedesco, DCE, Hynes etc. There must be a better system, perhaps the old RLW system of rating all players 1-10 every game.

Using that rating system is the only way it becomes a legit award.

I think Ivan and Yeo are ok with premierships instead though.

Its just not a serious award system. I'd be curious to know what the players think because I don't know many fans who pay attention to it.

Though at least the winner this year probably deserved it. Hughes has been very good.

Has the RLPA player of the year ever been the same? That tells you all you need to know

Ahh.

Well they'll need one cheapie then. Jenkins is moving on from the Knights.
Tom Jenkins is coming back to the Penrith system - not Top 30 - but can be called upon if injuries etc. Not sure how all that works - maybe Blade can fill in - but told he is glad to be back.

P.S. - Pickers won their first Group 9 GF for 33 years last week, so has been a big week celebrating.

Speaks volumes that they ex players want to return. Peach, Laurie and now Jenkins for starters.
