The competition was never canceled, it was suspended, the points stay and rightly so

If the setup is everyone plays everyone once then it’s a no brainer that the points stay and you play the remainder
It doesn't bother me coz we aren't going to win shit either way, but surely you don't think we are going to restart the same competition that was suspended at round 2?

Its going to be practically impossible to complete the currently scheduled rounds hence it would be a new format and new competition that starts.

Call it the Coronavirus Cup or something because it won't be the NRL premiership that the chooks won last year

If we are playing a shortened competition eg 13 rounds or 15 or whatever, then everyone should start from zero.

Yeah it will be shit for the teams that won in round 1 and 2 but lets face facts, if we are resuming with a shortened season, altered rounds, no home games, no crowds, no rep rounds, salary cap dispensation then the goalposts have changed and we have a new and totally different competition for 2020. You cannot say we are playing the same NRL competition as years gone by. And yes whoever wins the comp will have the worlds biggest asterisk next to them.

If the points are to stand, then we need to find a way to get the remaining 24 or whatever rounds are left, played.

I don't see it that way. I see it as like Duckworth Lewis in cricket - you don't start the game again. Yeah it can often favour one side or the other..but generally the people who have done the best before the break in play are in better shape. I don't agree that we have a new competition. We never have an even-handed competition anyway - teams don't play each other the same amount of times. If that were the case - ie we played a 15-round or 30-round comp, then yeah fine. But we never have. The only side with any case for consideration is us, and f**k us. We were so rubbish in round 1 that we don't deserve it. Canberra would've towelled us up in Auckland, Gold Coast or Timbuktu.

And I don't agree that whoever wins has an asterisk next to their name. OK, it's not quite the same as weathering a full season, the ups and downs of a 26-round campaign then finals. But the winner will be the best team, the team that earns a spot in the GF then wins under the pressure of the biggest match of all (and there's probably going to be fans there by then).

Yeah it is the same competition for me, just shortened. If we run a concept where every team plays each other then it’s crazy to not include those 2 rounds

It would probably be the most fair comp we have had under that structure as with the normal 24 round format some teams get a lucky draw getting mug teams twice while others get the gun teams twice

Yeah there's basically 2 arguments, one side says keep the points the other side says start from scratch.

Either way Greenberg and Co will cop it from someone

We've played 2 games, there are 16 teams in the comp, that's 15 opponents, play 13 more rounds so everyone has played everyone once... a more balanced schedule than the normal NRL, frankly.

Couldn't give a stuff about starting from 0... not going to matter for us anyway. At least I can see why the Roosters would care, but they (or anyone else) don't deserve a mulligan.

The three sides who have publicly said they believe the comp should be reset points-wise are the Sharks, Roosters and Warriors. Gee, what a surprise. Any sides on 2 or 4 said it?

As jase said, play everyone once, keep the points. You played for them with your unaffected squad and lost. Suck it up.

And I don't agree with any talk of asterisks. * are for cheats like the Storm.

The T20 WC I cant see getting off the ground, no guarantee for a 15-round competition, I can see the GF played in late November if need be to get a whole season in

Remind the boys that if they do have to go and play out the season in Aus, at least Burger King will still be operating there :p

I see the NRL are consulting a weapons expert.
Could this be about defusing the high bomb?

The NRL is pushing ahead with plans to start the competition on May 28 despite high-level broadcast discussions on Friday, with the Warriors set to apply for a federal government exemption from the mandatory 14-day quarantine policy for international arrivals.

Lake Ainsworth at Lennox Head, a recreational facility on NSW's far north coast, will be put forward as part of a proposal to the Australian government for exemption from the strict hotel lockdown rules in place for offshore arrivals.

ARLC chairman Peter V'landys, who remained tight-lipped about the details of Friday's video link conference with Nine chief executive Hugh Marks and Foxtel boss Patrick Delany, will resume negotiations with the game's broadcast partners early next week about an end-of-May comeback.

Momentum is gathering around a potential 20-round competition that will see State of Origin played as late as November, however all three parties involved in Friday's meeting have been sworn to secrecy.

It's understood the NRL executive team hasn't even been told about the events that transpired, although the Warriors are forging ahead with plans to arrive in Australia on May 3.

The Kiwis, who are about to finish a month-long isolation period in New Zealand, are hoping their recent lockdown stint will see the Australian government relax its restrictions to allow them to train during the 14-day quarantine.

The Warriors want to lock themselves inside a cabin facility on NSW's north-coast away from the community at the sport and recreational base at Lake Ainsworth.

The facility includes a training field, gym, indoor centre, tennis courts, basketball court and swimming pool.

Apparently what helped seal his fate was a lack of communication with Cameron George, they had a phone hook up with V’Landys last week and V’Landys was appalled with what he was hearing and he tore into Greenberg during the call for not returning calls and answering questions the Warriors were asking

I'm not a corporate guy, I really have little idea of companies run and won't claim for a second to be any sort of decent judge on what is going.

But surely the resignation of a CEO just over a month over what is an unprecedented, incredibly complex undertaking as is re-starting our comp under the restrictions of a worldwide pandemic spells mortal doom for this to be able to go ahead?

The rumours of him getting the chop have been going for a while, well before any of this virus stuff really amped up

He has no relationships with the clubs. who find him arrogant and dismissive and he has lost all the major stakeholders too, and what the money situation has shown up are how many dodgy ways he has been manipulating the money to cover up poor decisions. 1.6 mil found missing last week was a final straw
