Yeah I get ya but most of the narrative on here lately is about how rubbish the bloke is doing and how he is an embarrassment to the club. Like we are in unprecedented times here and this guy as the boss of the organization has most of it on his shoulders to be the link between vlandys and the nz government, keeping staff in a job and motivated, organizing all the logistics and shit. It's not an easy job.

It just pisses me off that as soon as soon as one of these guys say something in the media that someone doesn't like, automatically they are shit at what they do.

And I totally get that this post makes me look like a management apologist (trust me I'm not, their are endless things we f**k up) but I can't fault the dude for anything so far this year, he has kept us as fans informed the whole way, and now in conjunction with Vlandys has orchestrated our return to the comp with every player committing to the cause.

I know we're odds on to probably win the spoon but seeing the team come together during such a shitty time and the little things like players giving up money for Frontline staff has me feeling positive about the club again. Feels like we're finally getting some mana back around the place.

My issue is that he has a history of it. As an outlier, that comment wouldn't have worried me. But he talks shit. I'm sick of town criers in our organisation. Hear ye hear ye! We're working harder than ever! It's coming up 10 years since we won a playoff game. I wish these people would realise we've heard it all. I know the media put a stick under their chin and want to get quotes, but they're not obliged to give them anything other the basics of how they're going to get better.

But I agree with you, I am encouraged and grateful for the work anyone's done to get us on the park. Maybe I should stick a sock in it and see how we go.

I got a lump in my throat seeing a photo of Adam Blair saying goodbye to his son. That really hit me. These guys are giving up a lot. I don't think it'll last, that sort of 'let's do this' motivation because that's not how motivation works, and ultimately it'll boil down to the sort of football team we are. But as per the new motto, I am all in. I'm proud of them.

Yeah, the office is an embarrassment. All talk, no substance. And George seems desperate to get in the media. I'd prefer the office to be effective and invisible. George seems to be the total opposite.

That's my issue. I don't think Jim Doyle was a chest-beating CEO. To be fair, neither was Wayne Scurrah. Steve Tew wasn't, and I'm certain Mark Robinson won't be. The best guys in that role don't have an ego. They speak when they need to. They don't waste words. They're solely committed to the best for the organisation, not getting themselves in lights.

100%. And probably a nice little reminder to a dickhead like me that Adam Blair is a person, not some faceless player that is fair game to criticise the hell out of. He's a Dad like me. I'd lose my shit if I was away from my girls for a period of time. Maybe people who aren't parents don't appreciate that, and fair enough...but those guys with families and young kids are going to battle mentally. Doesn't matter what they're getting paid or what jersey they're meant to be wearing with pride. During the quiet moments, and there'll be a lot, they'll struggle.

Fair to criticise his play... but as to the person, I have no idea what he’s like, but off limits anyway... but very tough leaving the family, hope they all manage ok

Off field, Adam Blair seems like a top bloke tbh.
Yeah from what I’ve seen, and I hope he and his family are coping well... hardly ideal but obviously keeping the day job is important to us all atm
But terrible signing imo, and that won’t change

The Storm got a frosty reception in Albury (NSW), the Warriors got a warm one in Tamworth.

This has to be a rare moment whereby the Warriors management proved smarter than their Storm counterparts!

i would be looking for a new council if i was living in Albury. f**king shortsighted if you ask me. all those big hungry men needing food and beverages etc and every thing else that comes with running an NRL team.. It would be quite a stimulus to a small town so I cant see why they are arcing up about it so much...

I've just been thinking about some biffo from yesteryear and I'm not comfortable with the level of one-way violence dished out in the following 'scraps':

1. Steve Bowden v Mark Broadhurst (Newtown v Manly 1981).
2. Ian Roberts v Garry Jack (Manly v Balmain 1991).
3. Kevin Campion v Shane Webcke (Warriors v Broncos 2002).
4. Gorden Tallis v Ben Ross (Broncos v Penrith 2003).
5. David Kidwell v Willie Mason (Kiwis v Kangaroos 2006).

Maybe I should take another look but I think I'd still reach the same concluson.

You wouldn't want to meet him down a dark alley then?

I reckon youd be fine in a dark alley with Monty unless you gave him some unreasonable amount of lip. Always comes across as a well spoken, smart, personable guy who was obviously a good trainer and generally had a good attitude but it just somehow didn't translate on field.

Kidwell v Mason is the most over rated tackle of all time, Kidwell came flying in and they had a head clash

The Campion v webcke one has been getting some airtime lately, PJ Marsh with a great assist that Campion didn’t need in that one

These blokes not wanting the flu jab are an absolute joke, happy to send them packing without pay

Looking at my mob, Fonua- Blake doesn’t want it but is happy to have a needle poked into him to draw pictures on his skin, and Walker doesn’t want it but was happy to nearly kill himself overdosing a few years back

Watched the Manly vs Newcastle 95' game yesterday. The hit of Harrigan on Caroll was a classic. Sorted out quickly and correctly by one referee.
If that was today with two referees and the bunker it would have stopped the game for twenty minutes and I have no doubt they would have arrived at a wrong verdict.
I am glad V'landys is pushing for a return to a one referee system.
