GI to the Broncos

The thing that stinks about the GI transfer is that the total amount being counted against the salary caps of both clubs is $340k - $300k against brisbane's salary cap, and $40k against Melbourne's second tier(!) salary cap. This is a slap in the face of every other club in the league. The rules state that when a player changes clubs mid-contract (as is the case here), then the full value of the original contract must still be counted, so that if the new club is paying them less, the difference is counted against the old club's salary cap until the time the original contract would have expired. There is no f**king way in hell Inglis is currently on $340k. Surprise, surprise, News Ltd. are dealing themselves a hand full of aces.

This is a case of "If you don't like it, you can start your own competition.. New Ltd are sticking their big index finger at the rest of the clubs and could not care less about transparency..

If anyone can't see how Gus is using this GI affair in favour of his own crusade againt the NRL and its administration, better get himself a red and white cane.

He knows better than anyone how to stir the masses, and he sure as hell will get plenty of support from the envious majority in NSW.

But the hipocrisy of someone who hates the salary cap having this rant against the most successful club in the NRL and suggesting they should fund the Storm doesn't come accross as a conflict of interest to him? I wonder what he and other would say if the Broncos beat the Storm a couple of times in 2011...

Finally Gus, News DOES NOT own the Broncos, they have the major (but not controlling) share!

We must be instilling fear and envy as we're hated again. Welcome back Broncos! \\\\:D/

Hating the Broncos has nothing to do with fear or envy. Has more to do with the fact that they represent many of the worse aspects of modern day Rugby League.

the reason that Locky is listed at 250k under the cap is because he gets the long serving player allowance (which he wouldn't get if the left the Broncos) and they use their marquee player allowance on him as well. so with those 2 things added he would be on 450k - remember he took a paycut to stay with the Broncos.

Just like the Storm players took a paycut to stay there. Inglis is supposed to be getting some of the marquee money so I don't know were that leaves Lockyer. What a load of horsesh*t. And how are the Thoroughbreds independant from the club? They only exist to top up players payments.

Yup, sticking with the ARL, not changing their jersey/ colours every 2 seasons and winning the odd comp or two in the last 15 years despite being one of the financially poorest clubs in the comp are all bad aspects of Rugby League.

You seem really angry and tense mate. You need to take something to help relax. Maybe head on down to Knights training and see what's being punted this week.

f**k the broncos man. f**k them for trying to win. real pricks

I see your sarcasm. Seriously though, this is (meant to be) a regulated competition, unlike European football where Chel$ki and Real Madrid can stockpile all the talent they like while fans of teams like Deportivo la Coruna and Bolton know the only way the will ever see their teams win anything is if some Russian oil billionaire or Arab businessman buy their team out, spending up and winning 10 years worth of silverware before tossing said team like a used cigarette butt in the gutter. That is what the salary cap is for.

Are we all being too hard on the Melbourne Storm? They were only "trying to win" too....

Just a little, yes. But this thread now highlights the Storms greatest accomplishment over the past 5 years i.e. we put, and kept the Broncos in there place.

Past 5 years?

Dude, we beat you in the Grand Final in that time. It was glorious.

You beat us with a proven illegal side, that's it.

But this thread is so funny, we sign one player that we were entitled to sign and it brings out every anti-Broncos supporter from the woodwork. Geez, hadn't seen Razor since he last embarrassed himself, still in as fine a form.

The Knights reported a profit of $116,408 in 2009.

Cry poor somewhere else.
