When you listen to Rat and therefore only here generic 4/4 beats I can understand why you say that, Ron. However:

1) You know nothing about drums. Firstly, it's the most physically demanding instrument to play, with daylight second;

2) You actually don't know anything about playing anything, do you, Ronny? What instrument do you play again?

drums are for the less talented in the group - anyone can bang some symbols, and make a beat to follow - hell even i can after approximately playing drums for 20 seconds - not everyone can produce pieces like an 'eruption' or sweep pick.

Drummers are the sh*t kickers in a group, even bass players get more respect.

The only drummers i have respect for are Alex Van Halen and John Bonham - both brought something different to jsut playing drums, their styles of playing have influenced drummers style more then anyone.

That's rubbish Ron.

Vinnie Colauita is the greatest drummer on the planet and an absolute freak.

Carter Beauford. Amazing. Danny Carey etc etc etc.

You may be able to bang a drum but you'll never be able to replicate those guys.

exactly, particularly Danny Carey

while Bonzo was different and did influence a few other people, there was nothing hard about what he played

Carey clearly has a lot of jazz influences in his drumming.

They wouldn't be the same band without him.

I heard Zep after Bonzo died with a new drummer, may as well have been a different band.

Totally different sound, some people know jack sh*t about music.

Must be all that hair in their ears from listening to hair bands all the time.

it's all about the bass boys any decent band has to have a solid drums and bass partnership but the drums only deal in rhythm, the bass has to deal in rhythm, harmony and the really good ones melody too. Bass is the heartbeat.

You can have the best front line with a dodgy rhythm section and the whole band will sound average, but an ordinary frontline with an awesome rhythm section will always sound great.

Oh, please. A band is nothing without a good drummer. Someone who has no soul and doesn't know how to rock leaves a band sounding flat, monotonous and boring.

Bass players are most definitely crucial (more so than guitarists and singers) but a band is still sub par unless they have an awesome drummer.

We are the backbone of the band and without us the band is nothing.

No, Lars would have wanked on about how everyone else is a wanker and no one ever listens to him.

Lars was a mediocre drummer at best. He was a legendary bitch, however.
