Mustaine is obviously bitter because his junkiness led him to miss out on the success of Metallica. Lars is just a whiney little bitch.

Megadeth suck arse.

Oh, please. A band is nothing without a good drummer. Someone who has no soul and doesn't know how to rock leaves a band sounding flat, monotonous and boring.

Bass players are most definitely crucial (more so than guitarists and singers) but a band is still sub par unless they have an awesome drummer.

We are the backbone of the band and without us the band is nothing.

I agree. I mean, I often listen to my music and marvel at how important a good drummer is. You have the excessive, over-the-top talentless drummers who just go as fast as they can with no real intent. Then you have the technically proficient metal drummers who mix it up and blow your mind.

One of my favourite drummers at the moment is Martin Axenrot, of Opeth. He has a great ability to play traditional metal melodies as well as mix it up with more complex rhythms.

But I always feel that a great drummer is more crucial to a good metal band than its singer or guitar player imo.

Igor Cavalera from Sepultura was my favourite back in the day. Think he was the first double kick I ever heard so maybe I am biased in that way.

i guess metal is a bit different to other forms of music in that yes you need a great drummer for it to work, moreso than anyone else in the band... There are plenty of awesome grops around that didn't/don't have drummers but not in metal as far as i know.

To me if you have a good song and a great rhythm section you have the important stuff...everything else is decoration.

Opeth are sh*t. They started out alright but have become like Dimmu Borgir - generic crap for teenybopper try-hard scene metallers.

Also, in terms of metal - I f**king hate blast beats. Just because you bash the kit as fast and powerfully as possible doesn't mean sh*t, idiot. Actually, it does mean something. It means you're a braindead f**ktard who has no feel for music. I couldn't give a sh*t how fast you can go, dickhead, you still suck.

Good metal drumming has its foundations in a rock beat. Rock beats have groove, funk, soul - they have feeling. Hold your beat and throw in little alterations when it suits the music. Feel the tempo and mix it up when the song needs it. It's simple enough - if you have a brain and a heart that can feel metal.

I hate people.

Igor was OK. Sepultura were OK (before Chaos AD).

But Juha Sievers from Cemetary kicks arse. This is probably because An Evil Shade of Grey is my favourite album of all time, but then again it might be because he is actually a good drummer. *shrugs*

bad day HJ?

lol, metal pisses me off these days.

It's now mainly composed of poser f**kwits who need their heads kicked in.

Typical conversation:

Idiot: You have long hair. Do you listen to metal?

Handsomeness: Yes.

Idiot: Me, too. I love Slipknot/Dimmu Borgir/Opeth/Cradle of Filth/Amon Amarth.

Handsomeness: *walks away to avoid killing someone*

Actually, that's not always true. Actually, it rarely is. I usually spend a minute tearing into them about how sh*t those bands are and how they're a braindead poser. Then I leave when it looks like they want to cry.

Changed my mind.

Teeny-bopper metal fans are rarely into Opeth I find - they're not "cool" or heavy enough. They prefer Slipknot, Linkin Park or Dimmu Borgir.

Vader ftw.

Although you have a point, it's an insult to Opeth, Dimmu and AA to include Slipknot alongside them.

Slipknot are the lowest of the low.

Anyway, Immortal for the win!

Hell yeah Immortal! And Vader...Behemoth....Napalm Death...Burzum...Darkthrone...SYL...

Wow...Bit of a deviation of genres there. But it's all good.
