If they want back in, it is pretty much their last option. Spending years and $$$ is not unlike what the Pirates are doing now. They too will be playing NSW Cup from 2022.

Big difference. The Pirates are funded by the NRLWA (NRL in effect) as a state Jnr development system. ALL of the private backers of potential expansion sides have given up (Bombers, Bears, CQ) You'd be nuts to be putting money into anything that's ultimate goal was in the hope of an expansion team being the end result with the current lack of strategy or timetable on the table around expansion. Bears could literally throw tens of millions of $'s at SA and in 20 years have nothing to show for it. Not sure their members would be very impressed! Better they spend that money on Jnrs in Nth Sydney I'd have thought?

They’d be stupid to do so. They tried that in Gosford and it lead nowhere. Why would they spend years and $’s doing it again with very little hope we will see expansion IntomSA any time in the next two decades?

The Northern Eagles were a farce in every way possible as it was 2 arch enemies playing together. If the Bears were allowed to relocate there in 2000 as a stand alone entity it could've worked for all we know.

So then approach the NRL and work in conjunction with NRL SA for funding in exchange for development work. It is not hard - and if they truly want a place back in the NRL, then make it happen.

Haha, the last 10 years would suggest there is no working with the NRL when it comes to expansion as they dont have a vision or a goal. The Bears are not some philanthropic group there for the betterment of RL. Harsh reality is Adelaide is highly unlikely to get an NRL team anytime in the next 20 plus years. But yeh we should expect NS to plough resources into there just in case.

If anything as a last resort they'd be better off approaching NRLWA and throwing an irresistible offer at them, at least Perth has a distant hope of getting a club.

Ten NSW clubs in a 16 club comp and his answer to expansion is another one! But the games dying in sydney blah blah blah.

Balmain are bankrupt and Bears havent got two gold coins to rub together so yeh they very likely would be bust by now.

But, the ticket prices and the private schools!!!

For a start it should be a 20 team comp!

Just a rugby league fan that supports my favourite childhood club in the Roosters. Rugby league has been shafted in northern Sydney so therefore my stance and concern.

The Roosters should relocate to North Sydney and get NSO rebuilt. The Rabbitohs can take over the East. The Bears should head west all the way.

Never is a very long time and who knows what the future holds, but I'd go so far as to say they won't get a team this century. The numbers just don't stack up.
