Greatest Defensive Display of all time? *spoilers*

Yep, all Melbourne needed was a couple halves who can throw forward passes and balls over the sideline. How dragons are the worst attacking side in the NRL with those in form halves is beyond me.

Both Widdop and Marshall made a bad mistake in the last few minutes, but that was down to the pressure the eels defense put them under. Both Widdop and Marshall were dangerous in the last 20 minutes.
In the last 20 minutes of the broncos/storm game all we saw was plod after plod from storm, a desperate pass to chambers on the 4th tackle followed by a grubber into goal. The way storm were playing broncos could have held them out for another 20 sets.
In the last 20 minutes of the eels/dragons game Widdop, marshall and dugan threw everything at the Eels, they were going wide to one side, then back to the other, chip kicks, creative kicks, giving the ball early to the backs with room to move, there was a few occasions were you were thinking 'how the hell did parra hold them out there'. Honestly if that game was a minute longer parra probably wouldn't of held them out they just s scraped through with a gutsy effort.

As a neutral, I was far more impressed with Parra's defensive effort tonight. They seemed to get a few dodgy penalties go against them, had to defend a few sets on the line. Melbourne without cronk and slater pretty much just plodded for a set of six followed by a grubber. Parra had to defend against Marshall, Widdop and dugan in great form, and they really had a hard crack at parra

Yes, it's the refs fault the Eels kept getting caught offside in their eagerness.

Brisbane just won a game of football with the whole world stacked against them. 60% possession at fulltime, lost the penalty count by 3 and 11 line drop outs. That's the stats that Melbourne had, and they lost by 2.

Just unreal.

You are the most deluded fan I have ever seen in my life.

Stay a while longer. You'll gradually realise that trying to decide any one poster is the most deluded is akin to trying to decide any one defensive display is the best of all time. ;-)

Bulldogs are smashing the Broncos defensive display. Storm are making bugger all meters and when they get in good field position the Bulldogs can defend a set without conceding a goal line drop out either. Simply defending better in every area.

'Statically' the broncos were better, and this is why football should not be judged on statistics alone. This has been far more impressive from bulldogs, on exactly the same side

That didn't last long.

79 min & Melbourne couldn't score a single point, gifted a 79th min try. Without a doubt the one of the greatest defensive efforts in the game of rugby league since 1895. Take a bow doggies.

I think HAL takes the prize at present though. Agreed, it can change daily.
