Unfortunately what Inglis did is a result of the enviroment he was brought up in. The abuse of women is something he would have seen on a daily basis whilst growing up in Bowraville. I have been there a few times, and the mission looks like it has had a bomb dropped on it. Drugs and Alcohol are huge problems.

This cannot be held as an excuse for his actions. He has been given an oppurtunity in life that not many get. Unfortunately like a lot of people, the bottle can bring out their demons and they often resort back to their bad ways when they start drinking in excess.

This is a society problem and not a league problem.

When police go to the trouble of arresting and charging a person to a criminal offence, they must have evidence to substantiate their claims.

Yes , and our legal system requires that the evidence be tested in court.

Many an innocent person has been charged by police.

Inglis , like all people charged deserves the presumtion of innocence.

I agree somewhat but to be charged there has to be a sufficient case against you and they have charged him...

The new face of Rugby League IMHO...

Can't go wrong, and it's the only thing in the game today that won't let us down.

Unbelievable. Probably the best RL player in the world ATM IMO, but if convicted he will have to be shown the door. Could be another one off to AFL.

this was always going to happen.

this is a reflection of where we are & where we're headed.

quite frankly, for some time now (perhaps 3 decades) women have forgotten what relationships entail.

greg inglis like most other males endure a stressful existence in order to provide a partner with a better quality lifestyle.

cancer hits a relationship in the following ways;
a) the female gets comfortable & starts to mismanage her weight.
b) the little things that she did to add to the relationship start to deteriorate slowly - dinner, spontaneous lovemaking & her general appearance in casual situations.
c) the female unwittingly starts trying to change the male to conform to her idea of a partner, rather than accepting the male for who she fell for.

people need to be aware that some (not all) males can react in a violent manner to this because they cannot adjust to the 'norm' that society has gradually foisted upon all of us. other consequences can be infidelity. it's a sign that inglis loves his partner by choosing to strike her rather than cheat on her.

if the pair had sought couples counseling, this incident may very well have been avoided & their relationship made stronger by airing issues such as those raised above in this post.

I have trouble entertaining how people can joke around about men hitting women. I realise that it is exactly that, a joke, but unfortunately it isn't a joking matter. It is weak, no matter how you look at it. You see, when people make these jokes, it is in some way condoning violence against women. Young kids see the this, and they then think it is a laughing matter.

Regardless of what she did, there is no way she deserved to be hit. The black eye would suggest that he belted her. No matter what comes out about the circumstances leading up to it, it is a weak act.

As I said before though, unfortunately this is the type of behaviour Greg Inglis would have seen all the time as a child.

Charming. So it's her fault he (allegedly) raised his fists to her.

bullsh*t, pure and simple. Resolving disagreements via assualt is never the right response, and attitudes like yours are the reason the problem remains so widespread- and why the women almost invariably take the blame for their partner's actions.

And if you want to complain about media double standards, consider what the press could come up with if they simply trawled through this thread (or the ones about Bird, the Sharks, or Stewart). Not only would they have fodder for the mill, but you've also supplied them with the ammunition to argue that the League community not only finds nothing wrong in such a low act, but *actively condones* such behaviour.

I am hoping this is tongue in cheek, but a perfect example of f*ckwits taking the piss out of what is a serious social problem in all of society. Young kids get on here and read sh*t like this and they don't see the sarcasm behind it. Grow a brain c*ckhead.
