Hi Guys,

Update on Parra's off-contract player negotiotions. Looks like Hages is taking a broom to the playing roster.

From 1 Eyed Eel - http://www.filthy_spammers.com/article.php?id=1504

Well we should have plenty of cash to spend, just hope that:

1. there are enough topliners left after June 30
2. that we can be competitive in a very hot player market after a poor year on and off the park!!

What are your thoughts on who we should keep that has not been let go so far?

Adam Peek – Unlikely
Veteran forward who has been passed by Justin Tsoulos and Josh Cordoba in the Eel’s pecking order. The Eels are likely to

Peek was leaving, but there have been a few talks. He loves the club (lord knows why! ;) ). May yet sign for another year.

The club is aiming to sign 2 or 3 big name players than look to our juniors and fringe first graders to make up the squad, similar to teams like Canterbury, Newcastle and St George..

I think our problem in the past has been that we've never had an ex factor or 2 that could win us games but we had a decent squad of good honest first graders..expect a competative side but don't expect a strong Premier league team.

he wouldn't be getting much money at all..if he did re-sign, Henry Perenara could be in the same boat and both players may look at playing to guide the youngsters through Premier league and both could also be looking at a future in coaching within the club, Henry is the assistant to Joey Grima at SG Ball.

Blake GREEN is a MUST signing.
Would hate to see him go to another club and be as good as say someone like Matthew Head.

or what positions Parra is looking to fill with a big name??

Hages likes to have a top heavy squad unlike smithy who seemed to like a balanced squad. he puts players in order and wont move them for love nor money. expect the same 1-17 irrespective of results barring injury. you will lose alot of promising juniors and have a demotivated mediocre PL team. may have a decent FG squad but might need to make some big signings in the most overcooked player market in history.

good luck - it will be team spirit that gets you through, not tactical prowess - lets hope u have alot of good players that love parra.

:x Geez,

Dont say that to me. Who is making all these decisions??

John was offered a contract. He spent most of one day last week talking to the club. Obviously he finds that he can get more money on the open market.

As I said in the other thread Parra need to have a broom swept through however it's only been 2 years since the last time this happened Parra got 1 good year out of it but are now back to where they were in 2002-2004.

Maybe the broom doesn't need to go through the players.

A street sweeper would be more appropriate!!!
