i think walsh actually has to be on the park to warrant that macavity....

Dureau has been consistant this year. and is playing really well...

Walsh on the other hand was woeful last year and has been in a massiv form slump....

I guess time will tell. does anyone know when walsh is back??

How far in the "future" are we talking here? I believe that we wont be in a position of two strong playmakers with kicking games in the halves created from current player stocks is at least 2 years away. Given that, if we truely want to be competitive we will have to buy a short term solution. This will offend some people but I think we need to sign a "player past their absolute best" on a one/two year deal, ala the Cowboys and Jason Smith, for 2008 and preferably as soon as we can for the remainder of the 2007 season if possible to "guide" Jarrod through his learning phase. I think Jarrod has got "it" however at present his game is too immature to be a chief playmaker and kicker and he needs someone to share the role with. As much as I was never a great fan of the guy, I think Scott Hill would fulfill that role superbly. I,d even have Barrett! Any thoghts on other options and the idea itself?

there was a rumour about sherwin and a mid season signing
i thought he would be good for that
but he's back in FG there...so i doubt it'll happen now

well if we signed sherwin... would you think he is a short term solution as a way to give scotty or walsh more time?

Dureau has learnt to hide in defence like many other halfbacks. He could do it in firstgrade.
On a very positive note - Joel Brown has a lot to learn, but he has all the talent in the world and is improving with every outing. He really takes on the line and cuts through often, he has good vision, a great passing game, good defence. His kicking game is poor but rapidly improving.

I reckon Joel Brown has an unfair advantage - that ferret he wears on his head scares people...

What about Kimmorley for 2 years?

I think that he'd jump at the chance to play for his hometown club and I'd suggest that privately he'd like to show a few people that he could be just as effective as Joey.

He'd be cheap and his missus would want to come home. Give Mullen a cool head next to him and give the younger blokes time to develop.

Kimmorely isn't a cool head..he freaks out and throws intercepts...i think Smith is looking at Walsh wen he gets back as a solution..but not sure if it will be straight away...

i thought Walsh played brillantly in opening rounds last year with flegg..prob up until round 20 he seemingly went quiet and dureau grew in confidence....Walsh kicking game is his assett..speed and beautiful short passing..BRING IT WALSHY!!!

Kimmorley's game has improved 10 fold this year. He finally has a coach in Stuart who is willing to spend the time required to teach him some new tricks- namely not playing such a flat style of footy. He has a lot more depth in his game this year and the benefits are starting to show for him and the Sharks.

In two years it will be...

1. Kurt Gidley
6. Jarrod Mullen
7. Luke Walsh
9. Danny Buderus

Jarrod Mullen has three things over Walsh and Duerea - Experience, his running game and defence.

In terms of natural ability and playmaking skills Duerea has a truckload more then Mullen and Walsh has twice as much as Duerea.

Joel Brown could be anything, but his kicking game is atrocious.

For all the hype surronding Mullen it is not totally out of the question that any two of those young halves will prove to be better then him and actually push him out of the side a couple of years down the track.
