Hi guys i have experience with this side....

Ryan wilson is not over-rated
Reece regan is over-rated
Cy samuals is not one of the best players

Best players:

Ryan wilson
Jason antonelli
Tai tuivasa
Jason Doran
Ben Heterick

As a player in this team I agree that the district comp only has 4 or 5 competetive team, but the poaching of players to these clubs only makes the top division the best it can be.
As for certain gun players playing in lower divisions, I watch the lower divisions very oftenly and have only really seen decent talent in a few players.
It is also their own choice not to trial for a 1st division team, and sadly this is the only way they can go on in football, and if they are serious about progressing it football they need to do this.
But overall guys you cannoy bag-out the penrith district, as for what I have experienced it (and Parramatta) are the most competitive junior comps around.

Reece Regan made the NSW CCC side thats a pretty good effort for some one over rated. The kid has a load of talent
As for players getting selected from outside the top division 1 teams it has always been that way and will not change

He was also selected in the Australian Schoolboys Under 15 side at Lock.

In your opinion, what is the strongest side 1-13 to take the field?

1. Johnny Tapuaiga
2. Tony Satini
3. Ryan Wilson
4. Ben Heterick
5. Brendon Heather
6. Steven Misevic
7. Nilson Tuia
8. Tai Tuivasa
9. Joel Waddel
10. Jason Doran
11. Tevita Vave
12. Reece Regan
13. Jason Antonelli

By the way, I never said Reece Regan is sh*t, From my playing experience against him i really don't think he is Australian Schoolboy quality.

Going global

CYMS under-18s second rower Max Ray yesterday departed for Europe to take part in a tour with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).
Ray, 17, is one of just 24 players Australia-wide that was selected for the three-week tour, after dedicating a lot of his time to a scholarship program with the institute in the past two years.
While on tour players from the institute will compete in four games against France and the British Lions.
In the past this particular program has delivered likes of Australian winger Israel Falou and other NRL stars including Dave Taylor, Joel Moon and the Aubison brothers.
Yesterday Ray boarded a flight to Sydney with assistant AIS coach Col Matthews who described the scholarship program as a pathway to the NRL.
“It takes a lot to become a professional football player,” Matthew said.
“Max has a lot of the attributes that are needed to succeed in the NRL, including dedication and passion.
“I predict Max to be playing in the NRL within the next two to three years.”
Before boarding his flight from Dubbo yesterday Ray said while he was excited about the trip, he was also nervous.
“I’m looking forward to it, I have a few nerves though,” Ray said.
The four games the squad is expected to play while over there will be part of a tri-nations round robin.
It will be the first time the institute has taken part of a tournament of this kind and Matthews believes it will be a great opportunity for the players.
This isn’t the first time football has taken the 17-year-old overseas, having already completed a tour of New Zealand just last year.
Ray will join three boys from Orange on the trip and is expected to return back home to Dubbo on December 9.
This year Ray was a member of the highly successful Dubbo College Senior Campus side that made it through to the semi-finals of the University shield.
Ray was also a member of the Dubbo’s CYMS juniors that made it through to this year’s Group 11 grand final against Dubbo Macquarie. Upon completing Year 12 next year Ray plans to take up a contract offer with the Penrith Panthers in Sydney.

Would have liked to see Blake Austin partner Seijka in the halves, with Blake South at hooker. But for some stupid reason they didn't pick South!

IMO Matthew Moylan Penrith junior league under17 most outstanding player of the year 2008 will be the hooker

Only six clubs represented for all these players.....Not one player good enough from Blactown city, rivo, emu, lower mtns, mt druitt......etc etc

This is where our club falls down...the talent selection is overly biased and we pay for it in the future.
unfortunately it happens everywhere.

Don't know the Matts score but I'm hearing from a few sources Balmain beat Penrith in the Ball.

U/15 Development Squad.
Brave Tiger Cubs win in Heat
Saturday the 24th of January, whilst most people were at the beach, the Balmain Tigers Harold Matthews Development Squad play their first game of the season against the Penrith Panthers at sweltering TG Miller Field at Eastwood where the temperature reached 40 degrees.
But that did not stop the boys in black and gold playing an excellent game of rugby league and from the kick off they followed the game plan from the coaching staff and that was to put Penrith under pressure with strong defence and quick play the ball from the base of ruck to tire a much bigger Penrith team.
With hooker and captain Andrew Kazzi and half back Sam Gorman calling the shots it wasn’t long before the Tigers crossed the with a repeat set of six from a smart grubber kick put into the Penrith in goal from Sam Gorman and trapping a Penrith player in goal force a Panthers line dropout. Balmain shifted the ball both sides of the field and saw big John Leapai crash over for the Tigers first try.
After the drinks break the Tigers were completing their sets of six and defending very strongly but from a handling error Balmain force a Penrith scrum and from the onset the Panthers scored their second try again through their number 12 .
Half Time Score
Balmain Tigers 4 – Penrith Panthers 8
In the second half the Balmain boys went back to the game plan which was to force Penrith to make mistakes and to capitalise when we had the ball and the Tigers did off the back of a penalty for Penrith being offside and it was long when the Tigers were in again to score their second try through 5 / 8 Matt Janes to level the score.
After the drinks break the Balmain Tigers scored their third try of the game from a kick which landed in the Penrith in goal area where the Panthers were unable force the ball and in the mix winger Billy Moisdis got his hand to the ball and claimed the try.
After the last drinks break of the game the Tigers lay and wait for their pray to meet it’s fate and like a flash they took to flight like lighting to a fight until they holding victory in their claws and that came through a Nathan Bechara try and the Mighty Tigers fourth of the game.
Penrith were award a penalty late in the game for Balmain being offside and from a tap the Panthers charged for the Tigers try line only to be met by the smallest player the field Sam Gorman and help by 3 other Tigers players driven back in massive tackle. But the Panthers scored a consolation try which was the final play of the game.
Full Time Score
Balmain Tigers 16 – Penrith Panthers 12
The Coaching Staff would like to say that we are extremely proud of the boys’ efforts at training during the week and it showed in the way squad played in Saturdays game especially in stifling heat in their first game playing together.
The Harold Matthews Development Squad who played on Saturday was;
1. Mason Farrell, 2 . Martin Tau, 3. Michael Mouawad, 4. John Dillon, 5. Billy Moisdis, 6. Matt Janes, 7. Sam Gorman, 8. John Leapai, 9. Andrew Kazzi (c), 10. Fineeva Paigaua, 11. Tony Bazouni, 12 . Matt Dillon, 13. Alex Vlahos,
14. Ryan McLachlan, 15. Nathan Bechara, 16. Mark Daoud, 17. Scott Bunch, 18. Luke Georgas, 19. George Moussa, 20. James Ray Khoury, 21. Sergin Isik, 22 . Karuana Ripia

u/17 Development Squad
In a tough battle up front, Penrith managed to squeeze out a gallant Tigers outfit who were hit by injuries and call ups just before kick off. Coach Danny O’Neill was happy to support the S G Ball request to rest some of his players so they could play in their trial even though it severly impacted his teams preparation. “Overall we played well, but with a much stronger squad next week we should do well in the Albion Park Gala Day” O’Neill said. Best for the Tigers was Ajay Vaivaka, Lochlan Piper and Luke Symonds.
Harold Matthews Trial

Although the team was outplayed by a much bigger Penrith outfit, coach Ken Stapleton took some positives out of the clash. He will now focus on the final squad preparing for the trial against Souths this Friday night. We missed too many one on one tackles which lead to Penrith tries, so we need to fix this aspect of our game up before round one. Best for the Tigers was Kyle Lovett & Ryan Kelly.
S G Ball Trial
Our S G Ball team flexed their muscles with a strong display against a much fancied Penrith side. ‘To have a defensive effort like that for our first trial holds us in good stead for the season proper” said stand in coach Gary Freeman “unfortunately we don’t get two points for the trial win so we need to keep our feet on the ground and continue the hard work” Coach Brooks will have a hard time finalising his squad with so much depth but he is happy with that problem. The S G Ball also plays Souths this Friday night. Best for the Tigers was Sebastian Vourlos (who celebrated his birthday) Dean Parata & Joel Luani.

No offence to the Tigers but you have to wonder if Penrith had their full side playing
