Hasler's comments on the ref

I absolutely hate it when refs tell a player things like "I could have penalised you for any of the last 4 tackles" or "that's 2 in a row that are too slow"

Penalise the first one, and we won't have the second (or third or fourth or...)

This

I couldn't agree more.

This is why there is a push for an updated 'differential' penalty where the team receiving the penalty gets either:

Another set by the call of six again
Another tackle by a call of no tackle
Only the tap without the kick for touch or kick for goal

for penalties that are like this. For offsides, holding too long in the tackle etc.

This would speed things up and give the refs more incentive to call these as the advantage is not as great.

Do you want the game to become a penalty fest? Minor indiscretions should be dealt like that. Ignored enough the team will get penalized.

No I just want them to have the ability to call a few more and for the ones they call now not to affect the outcome as much as they do now.

The NRL will issue the Bulldogs a $10,000 breach notice for comments made by coach Des Hasler following Saturday evening’s match against the Newcastle Knights.
The Bulldogs coach made a point of highlighting the referees’ performances in his post-match media conference before saying:
“One thing I couldn’t understand was toward the back end of the first half …the referees are talking between themselves saying: ‘this game is going to change, this game is going to change, this game is going to change’… and the next time … there’s … you know…we get a run of penalties…there’s four penalties against us.”
The comments were made only two days after all clubs were warned in relation to excessive comment, attacks of the character of officials and generalisations that attack public confidence.
In issuing the breach today the NRL believes that through an inaccurate account of on-field discussion by match officials, Mr Hasler inferred subsequent decisions were made on a pre-determined basis.
The NRL ordered a review of the on-field referee’s audio which produced only one comment from the match official, which was in relation to the need for all officials to remain alert in the match.
Referee Brett Suttor said to the team of officials following a try on the field:
“We just have to remember that Newcastle hasn’t had the ball yet so this could turn around very quickly.”
To which fellow referee Jason Robinson replied: “very true.”
Contrary to the insinuation of the post-match press-conference, the next penalty in the game went to the Bulldogs.
“Coaches have the ability to be critical of decisions,” ARLC General Manager of Football, Mr Nathan McGuirk, said today.
“What we have said is that in doing so they should not question the character or integrity of the officials and that they should not use emotive generalisations.
“In this case it is our view that there was a clear inference drawn by the Bulldogs that the referees had a pre-determined view in the decisions they were to take for the remainder of the half.”
The Bulldogs will have until Tuesday, August 14, to make submissions in relation to the Breach Notice.

As I said, top job by Hasler.

instead of 10 in a row, size up those rings etc. We are talking about a $10000 fine instead.

Worth the cash if you are in the Dogs administration.

Why is a referee commenting on which team has or hasn't had the ball for whatever amount of time? Isn't his job to referee the game?

Put 2 referees in charge and they have to communicate.

Trying to say that they are massaging a game to one way or the other and you will get pinged.

This is what we have set up, and now what we have to live with.

Exactly! Who gives a rats how much ball a team has had? Just do your f**king job.

No mention in the statement regarding the ref saying he would should have penalised Cuthbertson 4/5 times in a set and didn't give anything!

We can soon fix that. Get rid of the second ref.

Or when they said that Inu almost ripped a guys leg out of its socket....

The refs were poor, you guys had the game wrapped up, they mentioned change, you got the next penalty, you won the game quite convincingly and showed why you will be favourites in every game you play.

Dont get sucked into Hasler's crap. He is your coach, you should understand better than most.

Lol yup, especially when he imagined Sam Perret being 1m offside for his try and saying we got the rub of the green with the refs when his team won the penalty count.
