Suttor and Robinson are very bad.....put them together in the same game and you have a train wreck of epic proportions...and they proved that with thair inane commentary and performance on Sat night.

Bill should ask them if they want to be referees or do they want to be commentators.
If they want to be refs then STFU and adjudicate the game!!!!!!!!

Not only have neither Suttor or Robinson been dropped, they are once again paired together.

The angry little ranga and Penrith's finest have been appointed to ruin the Panthers vs Raiders match.

Normally I agree with coaches being fined for slamming refs but this was an unusual case in that the conversation did take place, he repeated it pretty much verbatim and then made the inference that it then swung in favour of the Knights. He wasn't really wrong! It was a very strange conversation to have but I guess when you put two colleagues on the field together they are bound to have a bot of chit chat. Go back to one ref, can anyone honestly say it is any better with two refs on the field? Costs double to administer and there is no gain.

If he spoke in private to NRL officials then the media may be talking about the Bulldog's performances more. $10,000 isn't much the the Dogs and changing the media's focus is worth it.

Des is the coach most focused on the mental side of the game. I remember reading a story on Josh Morris around Origin time saying how much more mentally stronger he is this year and how the work with a sports psychologist has removed all negative thoughts after he makes a mistake. It has really paid off, the last couple of years they wuold drop their heads and have points scored against them easily. Now they trust one another and their defence.

Doggies fans fight muzzle

Date: August 8, 2012

Chief Rugby League Writer

ANGERED by revelations that Canterbury have won the penalty count in just three matches this season, Bulldogs fans have begun a campaign to raise $10,000 to pay the fine imposed on coach Des Hasler for criticising referees.

Remarkably for a team leading the competition and on the verge of winning the minor premiership, Canterbury have won the penalty count in fewer matches than any other side this season.

The Bulldogs are also the second most penalised team in the NRL after Sydney Roosters, while captain Michael Ennis is the most penalised player, along with suspended Penrith five-eighth Travis Burns.

The statistics have infuriated Canterbury supporters, who believe Hasler has now been slugged with a $10,000 fine for daring to question how the NRL's top team could be so offside with referees. While the Bulldogs have vowed to appeal the fine, a group of passionate fans have pledged $100 each towards the cost of the NRL sanction if the club is unsuccessful in its appeal. By 8pm last night, they had raised $3800.

''Naturally we expect the club to fight this but we want to show them that we feel just as strongly about the current situation as they do,'' long-time Canterbury supporter and season ticket holder Ian Camlett told the Herald. ''We are not a team who should be as heavily penalised as we have been this season. We are disciplined and well coached, yet every game follows the same pattern with us falling well behind in the penalty count before the men in pink try and even up the ledger late in the game.''

According to statistics provided by Sportsdata, the only matches in which Canterbury have won the penalty count this season were against Newcastle in round four, the Roosters in round 12 and the Cowboys in round 21. The Bulldogs have been on the wrong end of the penalty count on 12 occasions and the penalties have been even in five matches.

In total, Hasler's men have conceded 128 penalties - two fewer than the Roosters and four more than Penrith. Ennis and Burns have each been penalised 20 times this season.

Hasler was issued with a breach notice on Monday after he launched a scathing attack on referees Brett Suttor and Jason Robinson, and the overall standard of officiating, at the post-match media conference following Saturday night's 26-10 win over the Knights. ''We are sitting in the top four but we are the most penalised side in the competition,'' Hasler said. ''I don't think we are playing that ill-disciplined football to have that against us.''

Hasler also took aim at Suttor and Robinson, whose performance he described as ''poor'', over a conversation in which he claimed they had said: ''This game is going to change, this game is going to change, this game is going to change … and the next time we get a run of penalties - four penalties - against us. I just can't understand that conversation. Why pre-empt it.''

After reviewing audio from the match, the NRL found that Hasler had given a false account of the on-field discussion between Suttor and Robinson to infer that decisions were predetermined. It also noted the next penalty had been awarded to Canterbury. Bulldogs chief executive Todd Greenberg said Hasler had not intended to imply there had been any bias by the referees or to question their integrity or impartiality.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this sort of stuff pop up whenever a $10,000 fine is handed down to a coach for bagging the refs?

Dessie needs to realize two things:
1 - that he has a history of coaching sides with seemingly poor discipline, with the stats showing the Dessie's teams have ranked 2nd (2012), 5th (2011), 1st (2010), 5th (2009) & 2nd (2008) in penalties conceded over the past 5 years (according to my quick look at the stats anyway), and
2 - that there is every reason to believe that the fact that they give away so many penalties, particularly in slowing down the ruck, is one of the reasons that his teams have been so successful over the past few years. The Storm have been perennial offenders as well and look how that has worked out for them (cap breaches excluded of course).

Suttor is rubbish, but Dessie doesn't need to say it in the forum that he did. Deserves to cop the $10k, and needs to stop whinging..

Suttor should have been stood down for what he said. The ref's should not under any circumstance be commenting on how the teams are going and what they think is going to happen. The fact that he wasn't proves what a shambles the ref's have become

Des was spot on. Although its amusing watching the dogs fans change their tune. I remember him having a similar outburst a few years back and a number of dogs fans were very critical of Dessie being a whinger and he should focus on working on his teams discipline. Funny how their views have now changed.

It's Dessie, made the north shore look like whingers, now he's taken it over to Lakemba. He has taken whinging when winning to a new level.

It's also spread down to the shire.

Pretty sure Des never had any association with the Bears.

Kinda like how Manly fans change their tune on just about anyone that goes elsewhere?

Now that's funny

Actually, Manly fans generally don't hold grudges regarding people that go elsewhere. A lot of Manly fans still like blokes like Burns and Hall. Never heard a bad word spoken about Chris Hicks when he played at Parra. Feelings were pretty mixed about whether people wanted Maria-Hargreaves to come back to Manly but it was more to do with risk v talent than the fact he'd walked away from the club. Most have no ill-feeling towards Hokinson though some were pretty annoyed that he stopped putting effort in after he signed with the dogs, we're just happy that he's your problem now and not ours. So besides Des, I think you've really just made up a situation that you would like to believe. Sure you're not related to X-Factor?
