Have the Tigers convinced Moltzen to stay? Release sought from his Saints contract

If he is still actually contracted to the tigers for next year, and doesn't have an official release from the last year of that contract then his manager might be in a world of shite for letting sign a contract with the dragons in the first place

Yeh, Marty tauber, the same dickhead that handles Benji, the same dickhead that opened his big fat gob after marshall was charged with assault, saying all manner of thing that couldve got his player into bigger shit, anyone with half a brain would realise you keep mum once charges have been laid

Humpty got the shits big time with doust announcing his signature on the day of our game - this is payback.
Its not right, I dont like it, makes us look like manly...say one thing, do another

Might not help your club with future negotiations either. They'll want it sorted, either way, as soon as possible. The more this drags on the worse it's going to look for Tigers management

Don't like it.

As a player he is certainly not worth the effort and upheaval of all this fuss.

However the media link between this and the Lui situation is not an accurate one. These rumours were floating around as far back as round 25's matches.

Either way please let him go. Miler is a better half and I would much prefer to see Reddy, Grant or Brown in the custodians slot next season.

Right or wrong the Tigers went with Lui and as such this Moltzen situation is the mess it's in now.

Bottom line is Moltzen is a first grade standard half, proven in limited opportunities hence the Tigers backflip. I agree Dragons should be compensated of Moltzen stays.

I don't know who the Tigers are trying to kid though. Moltzen signed with the Dragons over 2 months ago and the Tigers haven't said squat about it in that time.

Now that Lui is going to have his bags packed, they are now kicking up a stink.

The NRL should step in and send him to the Dragons and fine the Tigers for being such idiots

The History of Motzen Saga

Tigers players have referred to the decision to allow the likes of Bryce Gibbs, Andrew Fifita (both Cronulla) and Tim Moltzen (St George Illawarra) to head elsewhere as a speedhump in their season that needed to be overcome.

“It is a tough circumstance when you’ve got some changes happening to your roster and every club goes through it.

“We hadn’t been through it for a number of years so I guess when it eventually did happen for us it was going to be a bit of a shock.

Humphreys said the exiting players, who join assistant coach Peter Gentle (Hull) and high performance manager Steve Folkes (Dragons), had galvanised the squad.

“I think it is a motivating factor for a group that’s very tight like our group,” he said.

“I think it can be and has been overplayed but it is in the mix.”

Humphreys said there was no concern the club had made the wrong call on the departures and the recruitment of Adam Blair, Joel Reddy and Matt Bell.
''He's flying for us. He's a big loss for the club, a massive loss. I'm still devastated he's going, especially the way he's been playing. That's rugby league.''

Moltzen had never played in a finals match until last Friday night. It just so happened that it was against the team that bundled his team out, minus him, last year.

And also the same club Moltzen will join next year.

''During the week, it's something I think about a little bit,'' Moltzen said of leaving the club. ''Coming up to the game, I'm definitely focused on the game and what I've got to do.

''The thing that makes me think about it is just having to move, all the stuff around it. But I'm just really trying to focus on now. We've got a great chance here. I don't want to focus on anything else other than what we've got to do.''

Moltzen has since moved on from the drama and, now that his future is secure, is intent on finishing off his time at the Tigers on a high.
‘‘You’re not around forever,’’ the 22-year-old said yesterday, just days out from Friday night’s blockbuster between the two clubs at the Sydney Football Stadium.
‘‘You have to make the most of the opportunities you have and this is the way it’s turned out.
‘‘I’m happy with the decision but my focus is on the Tigers and I’m not really worried about next year until it comes around.’’

Moltzen is contracted with the Tigers until the end of 2013, but was given permission to speak to other clubs.
Souths and Cronulla had also shown interest in the 22-year-old utility back before he and Tauber negotiated a deal to play under Steve Price at the Dragons next year.
"I'm meeting with the Wests Tigers [today]," Tauber said.
"There was already a verbal agreement in place, but I've been away for the weekend and I'm quite disappointed in all the carry-on about it.
"There is no issue. He will be at the Dragons next year."
A Tigers official yesterday morning said there was no certainty over when and if the Moltzen clearance would be formalised. But Tauber was emphatic it would go ahead today.

Yeh that thought's crossed my mind too.
A bit like burning bridges.....theres only so much other ''retailers'' so to speak in this industry when it comes to recruitment...we are selling ourselves short.

I hope it goes to court because there is ample evidence that Moltzen was verbally granted a release.
The fact they did that means they can't go to court and argue that they didn't do the paperwork so he's not released. Google the legal term Estoppel.

It appears from your post that the Tigers management have farked up and are now trying to renege, quality club indeed. I have no issues if Moltzen stays with the Tigers (if they want him that badly), but make sure it costs them plenty.

When you have a coach picking Galloway for the Kangaroo Squad what do you expect from the Pies.

I say let him play against Dapto!!

Completely agree.
But if all he had was a verbal from wests re: a release then he could be legally bound to them still.
Verbals mean nothing, Snowden and Inglis have shown that.
If it went to court the Tiges would win, and Moltzens manager would be in deep shite for signing the dragons deal.

Is this an attempt to stay on the float with Benji, Robbie & Beau?

One of the main reasons this club gets tight in finals is as a result of their man love for each other.
