Its weird thata guy with ultimate faith in his ability to make the NFL

Took the safest contract he could. One with guarenteed $$

He must know in his heart of hearts he is long odds to ever play a game of NFL

How much money is he going to get if he succeeds as a special teams guy? 100 000 grand guaranteed, wtf is that?

If he stays on the team for a full season he'll get at least $420,000 US. Which is $537,214 in oz dollars.

So if he makes it to the end of this contract he'll get 1.6 mill

As opposed to League, who run around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off? Just mindless bashing & barging. A fair reflection of those who watch the game, tbh.

You're right mate bunch of f**king skittle chewing dumbshits in this squalid little backwater.

(ps. too much bait)

Danish,I've been an avid follower of U.S. Football for well over 30 years. Before the start of each season,I watch the combines,I see how the guys who are trying to impress the scouts.

You have to understand that the U.S. has a population of over 280 million.

You have to understand the kind of competitiveness coming from that population when it comes down to a professional sport, and it is fierce.

Hayne will not make a final cut.If anything,I bet Haynes $100,000 payment whilst he is over there is coming straight from his own pocket.

He simply wont be good enough.NFL fans in our site, have seen what I have seen in the practice drills AFTER they make the cut,and they are extremely impressive athletes.

And Hayne will not be good enough. This has nothing to do with website banter,or being envious of Hayne in pursuing a dream...albeit it simply is what it is,a dream.

In some respects you probably aren't a far off, but your the attitude you (and other posters) have whereby the somehow think their opinion is more valid than others, and even worse is somehow a fact, shits people to tears.

And to say that Hayne's contract is coming out of his own wage is the most bizarre post Ive seen on this forum (Oikee included).

i've got no issues with the nfl fanbois that want to point out how much more of a challenge it's going to be for hayne to progress further....what just makes me laugh is some of the rubbish like that where they'd rather disbelieve what's being reported to suit their agendas, eg make up rubbish like going to rugby if he fails sounds more like a club rival/qlder who's had enough of him ripping an arsehole out of their team etc

The NFL salary cap is 143million... 100k is quite literally coins behind the lounge money to the NFL

Except they are still giving Hayne 400% more coins than they usually dish out to undrafted free agents.

Either way, you claimed that Hayne was kidding himself if he thought he'd get any guaranteed money. You stated that NFL clubs never do that. You are wrong.

I didnt realise the guaranteed money he was chasing was literally chicken feed.

You want to toot your horn about 100k in money when they deal in millions, good luck to you.
The lions cut their top RB only a few days ago, it cost them 3.5 million to cut him, and only saved them 1.5 million in cap space. This is how this business works. 100k on a mandatory 3 year deal isnt going to save Hayne from being cut if he can't play NFL football.
400% is the equivalent of a homeless man bragging because he got 20c dropped in his hat, when most other bums are only getting 5c's... good for him, but it doesnt change his situation at all.

I think Robert Craddock said in terms of salary cap %, it's equivalent to a NRL team paying someone $3k

 Sums it up. What a huge windfall for Hayne. That'll shut all the doubters up

the 49ers see enough in him to protect their interest for 3 years. again would love to know other undrafted free agents they've (nfl franchises altogether) done this for.

his 100k is for 20 weeks of work (training in fact)., what he earns after that is up to how he much he can pick up between now and training camp. if they keep him it would have to be minimum salary based on cba if not more.

You laughed at the very notion of any sort of guaranteed salary, even going on some long winded spiel about players with years of NFL experience and playing the whole lives etc never get guaranteed money.

You were then proven wrong with Hayne given a guaranteed salary.

You can attempt to backflip now and state that you don't consider the money he is getting paid to count all you want, but those are the facts.

He is getting chump change now because thats all he is worth until he is proven. It is still quadruple the amount normally given on his level of contract and he has been given that based on very little assessment of his skills.

I'm sure him suiting up in a regular season game and running in a 70 yard TD would still be unlikely to shut the likes of you and the other LU NFL fanboys in this thread up.

I look forward to seeing him get a run in the pre-season later in the year. We are pretty well assured of that happening given the fanfare the 49ers have made of him on their website, so once that happens its all in Hayne's hands.

In terms of salary, the following article may be of some help.

Rules, salary, eligibility, and description of 2014 NFL practice squads

By: Danny Cox AXS Contributor Aug 31, 2014

All 32 NFL teams made their final cuts on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, and now they are at the league-mandated 53 players. For some, it is the end of the line. Others can try to find work with other teams that need depth. There will be 10 players signing with each team for their practice squads, and 2014 brings about some new rules.

This year, there are some changes to the practice squads for NFL players, and one of the biggest alterations is that teams can now keep 10 players instead of eight. A lot of people don't realize exactly how practice squads work, and that's why this breakdown was necessary.

Practice squad players do not play in NFL games, but they do practice against the teams throughout the week. Players that are on one team's practice squad can be signed away by any other NFL team as long as they are signed to the team's active roster.

The one exception there is that a practice squad player can not sign with their current team's next opponent. It's possible to do that, but it would have to be done at least six days before their upcoming game or 10 days if their team is on a bye.

Players cut by their team must clear waivers before being signed to a practice squad. Practice squad players are paid per week and can earn up to $102,000 if with a team for the entirety of a regular season. By comparison, any player that has less than one accrued season (six games on an active roster) on an active roster will earn a minimum salary of $405,000.

NFL players can be on a team's practice squad for two seasons, but there is the possibility of a third season. That possibility is if a team maintains no less than 53 players on their active and inactive lists at all times.

Teams will usually not keep the best players they released for their practice squad, but the biggest needs. If depth is lacking at a certain position on the active roster, it is commonplace for teams to keep back-ups on the practice squad.

Im not back flipping, i misunderstood what he was looking for. I assumed he was looking for something substancial. I was wrong, so kudos to him.

If the guy makes an NFL team and makes plays like 70 yard return TDs, no one will be doubting him

None of the so called "NFL LU fanboys" are rooting against him, we all want him to succeed, the difference is we know what sort of odds he faces. Apparently being realistic about his chances of success makes me an "NFL fanboy". Great, no skin off my nose.

Frankly id love nothing more than for him to be an absolute superstar, but i would love to the see game have a greater presence here, and i'd love to see future Inglis's of our code head over there and do their thing. It'd be great.

He's going to get a spot in TC, that's all he's got right now. It's up to him to prove he can be a contributing member of an NFL team. If he does that, no one will be happier than me.

But the reality is this situation is going no where fast, there is literally nothing that is going to happen between now and about July. So i hope Hayne trains the house down and i hope he succeeds, but i doubt he will.
