I fail to see why he should be dropped for going out and having fun.

If they were really that concerned about public image, what about Cayless and Pig's punishments? They were seen out and about, wrestling and generally carrying on like fools. True, nothing happened - but to the outside eye, you would be forgiven for thinking something was up within the club's ranks.

And yet only two fringe First Graders and a dude who is perceived to be cocky are stood down...

2 weeks prior half the eels were out for haynes birthday and not a mention of it in the media no problems...not a peep!

its not the nightspot, lack of curfew or the drink in general, its the media beat up that surrounds every little incident thats the problem here!

forget about the actual gunshot, if hayne hadnt contacted the police then thats as far as it goes everyone would carry on oblivious and he would still be there come round one kicking bulldog arse!

 Nice piece of semantics Stagger :D

to be fair to stagger, there was one quite from Hagan which I saw yesterday and has been overlooked by everyone, it was along the lines of he is naturally still shaken up and not in a good way.

I'm sure a big part of this is punishmennt. But the there is another aspect to it, his welfare. He was shot at FFS. Who is to say he is in the right frame of mind to actually play?

Not playing him, taking him out of the spotlight will not just send him a message but is probably in his best interests.

Difference is they went home at midnight rather than 4am....

I think it was more along the lines of a repeat offender.

He, and others, were involved in the "Plasma" incident last month.

'involved' seems to be a word that gets too much of a work out when a player hasn't actually done anything wrong

i'm willing to trust those in the know at our club know more details of all the "involements" than we do - hence am willing to trust they feel they have taken the right action ..... these guys might have needed a bit of a wake up call .... mind you I still believe the media reporting over this latest incident has been disgracefully sensationalised

take it with a grain of salt, but I'm pretty sure Hadley said the club paid for the damage done to the screen.

IF they did pay, that would tell me someone did something wrong

IF they didnt, then they should correct that record.

The Eastern Suburbs incident was alleged to have involved Tim Smith (who denied breaking it), Feleti Mateo and Jarryd Hayne........

Read of it what you will.

The problematic playmaker, who was put on a booze ban just last week, was spotted at both Easts Leagues and The Eastern Hotel on Wednesday before heading back west.
Reports also had recently re-signed Jarryd Hayne and boom Tongan international Feleti Mateo out and about with their troubled teammate.

Not sure about the other two.

I wonder if the club paying for the plasma and the general lack of retribution for this incident had anything to do with certain contract negotiations that were going on at the time?
