Hayne signs with Gold Coast

For him to play this season the NRL would have to register a contract for him for this season. His market value is about 1.2 mil per season according to all reports. So if he is to play this season it should be for a 1.2 mil contract, anything less and the NRL shouldn't register it.

If the Titans can fit that into this year's salary cap then they absolutely should be able to lodge such a contract and play him, and the story should be how great the Titans have been going while being so far under the salary cap.

If his value is 1.2 per year, and he signs for the the rest of this year (3 months) than he'd go under the cap this year for 300k

This is awkward to watch. "Parra didn't make offer, I want to be there - But now I'm with the Titans?

If you think Hayne will be a bad thing for the Titans.. you are taking the piss. This puts them straight into premiership calculations for the next 2.5 years.
Improves their brand, improves their crowds, gets them new fans, insantly.
Improves their signing power.

Lose the tall poppy syndrome. Successful sides have superstars.

I just find it strange that you complained about the him signing an NRL owned club, but then said you'd be cool with him signing with the Knights. Double standards.
Listen snappy no other team gets more favours than the Broncos....All i said it would been a good idea that Newcastle would have his signature considering how Newcastle are performing this year.

Never any luck for the Warriors, they have to bring in a superstar right before a vital game...

He's signing today. Is he really going to get match fit, learn the team structure, and integrate into the team to the level required in less than 4 days? After being out of the game for 2 years?

He might do something individually brilliant and that's a concern, but the Warriors just need to go about their business. Let the Titans worry about the distractions.

A pro rata amount for the total yearly contract yes (1.2 million - 30 possible rounds/weeks = $40,00 per game. 9 more possible games/weeks. So a total of $360,00 towards the Titans cap is reasonable).

The total 1.2 mill towards the Titans cap, what a ridiculous, moronic sentiment.

do you think all mid season transfers get paid full season salary ?
No, but it's seat shuffling, something out for something in. It's not manipulating the cap to spend a lesser portion of it at the start of the season and then a more major portion of it at the back end.

After you complained about the Titans being NRL owned. You know the Knights are owned by the NRL too right ?

The thing is... NRL ownership has nothing to do with this signing.
