I haven't read all the posts here, and when I first heard I thought it was a prank.

But no it's real.

There is no way Hayne is going there with no agreement from a NFL side in place, what fly around the US asking for a trial. That's is very, very unlikely.

I don't follow the sport but they would have already commenced their pre-season training, if not games.

It would be a marketing exercise (by the Sea Hawks, I believe), he would be guaranteed, at least, a million plus to come over and try it out. Promoted as the Aussie Rugby superstar.

He will not lose out financially whichever way it goes, I applaud him for having a go probably as a kick return.

I don't believe he would make a wide receiver as these guys run the 100 in around 10.5 and that is about 1 second quicker than Hayne.

I posted the same thing earlier.

I agree 100%, either that or he has a strong Plan B lined up (i.e. a contract on the table from Toulon or Mitsubishi Rugby)

Kick returners are quicker than wide receivers. All teams have rosters finalised for this year already and no way will he have a guantenteed roster spot let alone a million dollar contract

Hayne is going from a million dollar superstar to a nobody who will be a practice squad player in the NFL on maybe $200,000 a season.

He'll be lucky to even see the field in the next 18 months and if he does it'll be maybe as a kick or punt returner on special teams, you can't just plug into the NFL and start playing after never playing American Football before.

Someone who signs him will be signing him as a project for a current unknown position then he'll need to learn all the intricacies of that position.

If you watch the NFL regularly like i do, you realize how crazy this actually is and how little chance for success he has.

You have NFI...

The NFL a season is already quarter of the way through the season...

And a team like the Seahawks can't just guarantee him a contract... They only have a limited number of roster spots they can open up... And they don't open those up for 'Marketing Exercise'

And if they truly wanted to pull off a 'Marketing Exercise' they would get 10 times the coverage if they signed Tim Tebow who's playing in the CFL...

He's trailing... There's no doubt about that...

Yeah, as said didn't read the previous posts. I can't imagine that you (whether you play NRL or not) could go doorknocking with NFL clubs.

Definitely, a marketing exercise by one of the clubs (Sea Hawks, I believe). Hyaney, will not lose out moneywise (couple of mill in the skyrocket, I reckon).

Who knows Plan B, believe he signed off it will be the eels if he returns to rugby league - European or Japanese Rugby, you could be right.

I laugh at all the emails from the club about renewing memberships - we might have beat the Dogs in numbers and got to 20K members but that won't happen this year..........

FFS no one is paying Hayne a million dollars to go and play in the NFL. the Superbowl winning QB from last year is only making $662,000 this year. Hayne will most likely be on a retainer and have incentives if he progresses from the practice squad to the 53 man roster.

You really think Seattle would cut a player that helped them win the Super Bowl last year to sign a bloke with no experience on decent money for the sake of it?

I was just thinking about it...

Could he possibly punt?? He had as massive boot on him when he kicked in the NRL...

I would say if he could Punt... And also return kicks... That would be huge for a team...

Because most Punters are specialists.... If he could Punt and also return kicks he could open up a good permanent niche for himself..

What would the SB Champion Seahawks get out of a marketing exercise to promote some fool no one has f**king heard of?

You arent living on this planet if you truly believe that.

As said, I don't follow the shit of a sport. So they are already 6 games into the season, news to me.

But the trialling part, in your post, is bullshit. He would already have a couple of million in the pocket.

The try outs are in the northern spring/summer? That is around 6 months away, why not play the Four Nations if that was the case?

Let's see how it plays out, and I do recognise your superior knowledge of the NFL.

All my bags are packed
I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to take you up the ladder PARRA
But the dawn is breakin'
It's early morn
The taxi's waitin'
He's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome
I could fly like a hayne plane

Hayne is leaving on a jet plane, don't know when he will be back again...John Denver

Sorry ..I couldn't resist!!

It is called a gimmick (marketing).

So you believe he is going to doorknock NFL clubs, who is living on this planet now?

He got paid that much because he's a 3rd rounder still on his rookie deal...

It's been speculated that when his rookie deal is up he's gonna be looking at a deal between 20-22M USD per season.

plan b is the NRL pay him extras using Smith's shortsighted new discretionary powers to get him back and then another handful of stars leave for 12 months to return after more handouts from the NRL.
