Your deluded if you think he's seriously being looked at..

Each franchise has networks of scouts who observe talent across the whole country.....

So he held a workout for 14 scouts... Once again it all means absolutely nothing until the final roster cuts next August.

Detroit Lions have been worthless for a decade,im sure they will continue to be worthless with or without Jarryd and that you're used to them losing by now.

if he signs for a practice squad it means they had a long enough look to see potential. They wouldn't sign him if they didn't. Its not like they go around signing anybody that puts their hand up.

Obviously it wont mean anything until he makes the 53 man squad.

So he's been signed so they can have a "non serious" look at him?

It means something. It means the network of scouts thought he was good enough to move him along to the next level. It means he will be in the mix when the final rosters get cut. It means he is good. It doesn't mean he will make it but it means he's given himself every chance and franchises have seen something they like. Your post stinks of jealousy and pettiness.

There is more spin and clutch slip about Hayne than at a drag-meet.
Visa me arse, will probaby head to France after xmas on the big money in rugby union.
Him and K.Hunt and Issy spread more tails than a puppies picnic.

People in the NFL don't look at RL players. It's beneath them. They only deign to look upon rocket scientist supermen types.
Instead they hire poor blind people to listen to them. If they think they sound nice, they can progress through the enormous queue of 'maybes' to the next opportunity. If not, they can shine the poor people's shoes.

Signing a player to a practice squad in week 16 of a 17 week competition isn't a big deal... They wouldn't sign him this late in the season with the intention to actually use him... They will be using it to have an extended look at him for a couple of weeks.

The interest from the scouts once again isn't a big issue... If he has a top class manager his manager would have connections to all these scouts and they would be turning up as a favour to him more than anything.

From there it's up to him to impress them... It's so ridiculously early for him to even talk about it is embarrassing. The rosters have to be expanded, free agents will be added to the roster, the draft picks will be added as well... And then the undrafted rookies will be added after the draft... At that point Jarryd Hayne will be in the fight to make the final roster.

As for being jealous or petty.... I don't feel I am... I want him to succeed... I would love to see him playing in the NFL... It seriously would be great to see...

But I'm not gonna act like a deluded lapdog and think that he's anything but a long shot.

Rumour has it Hayne impressed the scouts by playing and winning 5 chess games simultaneously.

We're not going to get a resolution to this situation for some time. He'll be signed to a practise squad after the season (or before), he'll live there and that's where he will stay until late July, where he'll be given the chance with that side to compete with 89 other players to earn one of 53 spots. And he'll either be good enough or he won't.

No point getting excited about anything until then... unless someone actually activates him to their rosters before then (I.E lottery odds)

When it is, can you help everyone with some links for merchandise. Know how much you'll love a sea of Lions jersies.

fox sports has prematurely popped their bottle on their Facebook page by the looks of it.

its claiming he's secured a contract with an NFL team and will be paid about $6000 a month. Detroit or San Diego appear his most likely.

Their status starts with 'he did it'. lol. I'm assuming that's just a starting 'practice squad' salary?

Already confirms what we know but its going to be to hard hill to climb.

yup, hes in a practice squad of 90. for people who actually knew what that was they would have said he's quite likely to make the 90.

making the 53 is considerably harder, if he does that then i think we can say 'he made it'

Thing is at the moment all they have to go on are his measurables, height, weight, 40 time, vertical leap, a few drills, etc. In terms height, and weight, he's got ideal size for the positions he wants to play and I'd imagine he'd have a good 40 time, but when he gets to training camp and has to compete with guys who have played the game their whole lives, that's when we'll really get a true indicator
