Some here may think that I dont like or support Elliot-but thats not true. I am surprised by his comments though.

Ok, I don't think you don't like or support Elliott and before you jump up and down I know you didn't say I thought that. You were surprised by his comments but think about this, he has a job to do and if he doesn't have the players support then not only does he fail but so do the players. I've said it before but this past season when we had a loss and lets face it we had quite a few, the players were crucified. As Panthergrey said, Joel just needs to re discover, I know you said find, what got him selected for rep duty, as do the others that have been given a rep jersey and I think ME is the person to do that by giving them points to prove....if we noticed they went missing what do you think the opposition saw....

One of the penrith staff members was telling me today when elliott was first introduced to clinton his first words to clinton "Where have you been for the last two years?"

Sounds like he's already started "squashing a few egos".

I love it!

No, I'm not hostile, I'm being realistic...these things need to be said to the boys and you just think that ME is a big meanie and will upset the boys...well newsflash....as I've said before, can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. If they can't take critisism from their coach then how the hell will they be able to take it from a much tougher audience...the fans...You don't agree with me so I think we need to agree to disagree on this...so I'm leaving it at that..

Well things are gettin toasty here people were seeing some emotion and thats what the boys struggled with last season we didnt have the fire in the belly when one thing went wrong the hands were on the hips head down kicking clumps of grass.

And thats what matty has to fix its that simple we need a new direction new confidence and well wether it involves humiliating the blokes to wake them up and get them standing ready to lay a big tackle to get you off there back then so be it.

It's a football team not a bunch of fairys if they cant handle it well tough cookies.

I beleive if its done by the right people for the right reasons its all good.

To be honest I can't see asking someone where they have been can be taken as humiliation.

Besides this is all only *hearsay*.

come one people lets not have hostility here we all know we aint gonna agree with everything someone says but we dont need to bicker about it...:D
I think matty elliott will manage things his way and it will weed out the bigger ego's it will change who thinks there right and who knows there right it will incorporate a better sense of pride into our side and make them gel into a top 8 contending side and yes many games i had a whinge outa frustration from the boys not having a dig but even the boys have new set plays new ways into challenging them for the coming year that will get them back on track....;-)

Ok, I'm up for a forum hug.

Mob, get your elbow out of my ribs, I wasnt pressing too close.

(..and thanks for trying to show me up at the Sharks forum..you better go back and see what happened!).

I'm waiting for my spys at the club to give me a report as well.

Hopefully, it will be less controversial but I promise to share it with the forum (uncut and uncensored unless its defamatory etc).

I agree with daveq, laney is hostile if you have a different opinion.

Why have you just singled lainey out. There are many of us who don't agree with Dave Q's statement.

just agreeing with dave (he called laney hostile) that laney can be hostile if you have a different opinion, I have posted comments before that people don't agree with, no one is going to agree all the time, but it is usually laney who seem to take it to heart and gets hostile, everyone else just gets on with it, and continues on with a reasonable debate

Perhaps its because laney has been singled out is to why she has taken offence here you are saying laney this laney that and others move on.

Perhaps if you stopped referring to only her shouldnt take offense.

Assuming laney is laney from pi who i have not seen around in a while i know her to make her point quite clear and not to have hassles with many people.

So my advice would be to stop singling her out and you would see her for who she is.

Or keep singling her out and she will eventually nail your balls to a wall haha.

But lets just try and keep this on topic if we can people.

Dunno what your on about attacking Lainey. She seems to have made her point quite well imo and hasn't taken anything to heart.

How many tries did Wesser score?

Now how many tries did Rooney score?

Rooney didn't get a lot of ball to him, I agree with that, I've said that a number of times....however, how many times did he go LOOKING for it. How many times did Mick Gordon get starved, then he went LOOKING for work...answer...alot.

Wesser may be on a lot of peanuts, but he deserves it, if i'm correct he came second or third in NRL top tryscorers this season did he not...and won games for us we wern't entitled to win.

Secondly, I agree with your sports phychologist thing. If you remember me saying also that the players this off-season should work on one thing and that is fitness...I think you remember me saying that...so definately I agree with you there.

But sports phychology and telling players lies about how good their performances are...are two different things.

Having my brother as an elite sportsman and knowing a fair few first graders who go to sports phychologists regularly...it isn't about inflating their ego's like what your alluding too with not telling Clinton how it is in reality.

A sports phychologist aims to put the players in a frame of mind in which they want to excel and do their best. Sometimes a few home truths is a part of that process. This position means making the players set goals for themselves and giving them the self belief in order to achieve them. It is a position which requires the players know where they have done wrong, identify their faults and work through them accordingly.

Now i'm sure Elliot didn't just say "where have you been for two years"...i'm pretty sure starting today...that Elliot will have identified which players havn't been putting in, where our strengths lie, where we wern't utilising our strengths last year..i.e. Rooney's ability under the high ball.

Elliot will have structured regimes both for the team as a whole and individuals. For example, I am sure Elliot will have Ryan Girdler on board teaching Michael Jennings and other young backs how to be ellusive with ball in hand. Not only kicking coach.

Matt Adamson will probably be working with our forwards, hopefully instilling a bit of mongral into them.

So while you may say i'm wrong Dave, you are entitled to that, but you need to understand what exactly sports phychology entails with regards to these types of professional athletes. Their ego's are inflated enough, and in some cases too inflated. All athletes need to be grounded at all times to achieve best results. They can't be smashed into the ground, or inflated too high...that is the job of the sports phychologist....to keep them at a mental state of premium performance. Sounds like a car ad....and VALVOLINE...ah bad joke.

*Passes another marshmellow*...GROUP HUG.

Thank God for that.

Nice one Big Mick..

Rooney spends the entire year with his hands in his pockets after being starved of the ball and he gets the blame. Pull the other leg!

Wesser as consistent? Thats a laugh. Dont tell me he's earning peanuts either.

The key to this mob is through careful, focused, thoroughly thought-out fitness and mental programs tailored to suit their individual needs.

The old days of the last bloke back from the run does it again, is well and truly over.

Youd be wanting to start your own HPU (make adamson a tackle dummy-that would help).

Now pass me another marshmallow Big Mick, I choked on the last one after reading your last post!!

Cheers everyone.

Dave,
You make me wonder as to how you got banned from PI? Here, players are criticised by posters without fear of being banned. Not all criticism is good. You sound like one of those from the official site who wants to just say all the "lovey dovey, keep going, your doing well, don't listen to the critics who said you played crap as they don't know what they are talking about" when the truth is, the way they played SUCKED. Thank god for Matt Elliot for telling the players the damn well TRUTH (They say the Truth hurts) regardless of whether it was said to them one on one or as a group, because the truth is, WHERE THE HELL HAVE THEY BEEN FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS?

Lainey is a person who will stick up for the players if they are unjustly criticised but will also criticise the players IF THEY DESERVE IT. I'm the same as Lainey, will criticise when its deserved but will applaud when its warranted. For example: Cronulla at Cronulla 2006 - I applauded the way we came back but all that did was HIDE THE FACT that for 50-60 minutes of the game WE WENT MISSING. Did I applaud the fact we won - NO. Why? Why applaud them when they played like RUBBISH and gave the impression to the fans they did not care anymore. To listen to supporters say that it was one of the greatest games that they had witnessed, well sorry, I DISAGREE. Great comeback YES, Great game, sh*t NO!!

Just my opinion, one I am entitled to, one your entitled to agree with or disagree with. But I'm glad for one that we have a coach who is not prepared to gloss over the fact that for the past 2 years, our players and team have gone MIA (missing in action for those who don't know what that stood for). Langy didn't gloss over our performances in 2002 and the start of 2003 and look where it got us.

Ahhh in reference to that lets just hope this isnt some ploy by elliott to win over everyone and then mid season he just gives in and says bugger it do what use want.
