That i can agree on. Dave Smith really had his work cut out. To his credit, he can see the huge potential.
2 million spent in the bush is a start.
Joining with touch, another good thing.
What annoys me is why the code was ever dismembered from touch.
How that happen. More infighting.

you know touch football went to the ARU to join with them, or something like that, but the ARU didnt have the money.

in england touch is linked up with union. even thought they have PTBs

WTF lol

Or we can stop changing something that doesn't need to be changed. 1-3 Internationals is fine at the end of the year, but honestly it is only really a passing interest of mine, and if I had to watch 3 weeks of it I'd go coo coo. I'd rather see young players get an opportunity while SOO is on, actually shows what depth teams have coming through!

not me

i have no interest in watching reserve grade football those rounds that are affected.

crowds always slump during origin.

I went to suncorp during origin series, think it was broncos v sharks. Should have been a blockbuster but was one of the most boring games I've ever been too with all the best players missing. If it was my team I wouldn't be paying $50 during that period to watch reserves.

There is dead rubbers in origin, i went to one of them at Suncorp.

As for being a gimmack, what are you talking about.
South Africa are playing a union world 15, ? is that not a gimmack,
A barbarians union side, ? is that not a gimmack. ?
England wales Ireland and Scotland joined together and call them lions, is that not a gimmack. ?
These are all gimmack games that make millions and millions of dollars.

Your obviously refuse to let rugby league grow out of QLD and NSW.
The dinosaurs are dead.

Soccer friendlies, all gimmacks.

They are not dead rubbers, they all prepare for the next series. They are important. Put it this way QLD have used them to trial bench players, NSW have done the same with Boyd Cordner getting a run in prep for this series. They are not dead rubbers, and ask any fan at the stadium, they are not dead rubbers.

Any game that stupidly changes SOO is a gimmick (yes like stupidly letting Perth/Vic, etc players play- they are not Origin players!). There is no need for it, do as much Americanisation as you want with the All Stars matches or Trial matches, but don't you dare touch SOO. The reason it is so successful is firstly the tribal reason but secondly because it hasn't been touched!

So you would prefer to watch 6 weeks of half arsed nrl fixtures than 3 weeks of test matches?

Correct and I'm a Broncos fan and we miss up to half our squad at times. I would rather see the depth players/young players. Heck some of the most famous victories for Brisbane have occurred during this period!

I enjoyed about 2-3 games, not sure I could take 3 weeks of it though and that is sort of the point

Strange, as a RL fan I enjoyed every game except maybe 2-3! Seeing different squads, different player combinations and plenty of national pride on display was a breath of fresh air from the same old same old of comp footy. Each to their own I guess.

England vs NZ in the RLWC was one of the best games I've ever seen, I'd love 3 weeks of Tests and Origin, it'd make a great change from the way it is now.

SOO has been changed throughout its history. It has gone from a one match series to a best of three. Gone from being played only in QLD and NSW, to now include VIC, and was also once played in the USA. From being played on a Tuesday, to a Wednesday, to the weekend, then back to a Wednesday again. So much for not being touched.

Reduce to 12-a-side, 5 on the bech, 8 interchanges, get rid of the loose forward. Abolish the scrum. Reduce in-goal area to 7 metres in depth. Reduce the amount the defending team is taken back to 8 metres. But, defending teams are only allowed to move forward when the ball has cleared the ruck after a play-the-ball, ensure the ball has been played properly, allow tacklers to hold on a little longer too, so rucks may be slower, but this is offset by a reduction of the number of players to 12. I want genuine rugby footballers players on the paddock, not just athletes playing helter-skelter football.

I'm a broncos supporter too. The fans aren't idiots. They want to watch the best players all the time. The young guys can fight for a spot or be given a chance via injury to a player. The current schedule dilutes the quality of the nrl competition too much.

The fabric of the game hasn't changed- it is NSW vs QLD. Full stop, end of story. It is not some trashy other concept you can come up with just because it is 2-0....the 3rd game is NOT a dead rubber, it is for preparing the following year!

Didn't mind the final and the NZ/Eng game, apart from that the rest were largely forgettable, although I remember one Scotland game I didn't mind, forget which one though.

The fans are fine with it, in fact they may see the next Hodges, Thaiday, etc in these games

You're fine with it. You don't speak for all broncos fans. I'd wager that you're in the minority.

And if there is the next hodges, thaiday out there, we will see them eventually anyway.

Then we don't need to stop the comp for a month to fit it a silly International 3 weeks...of which for 85% of fans there is no league on except for 1 night!
