It says he's happy to see out his deal
But happy it has come out.
What does that mean why need to make it public.
He said he didn't want to start again with a new coach.
Now he wants a new club and start.
He is 33 not 15 .
He doesn't know whatl the f**k he wants.
My guess is he wants five things:

Happy wife and kids
As much money as possible
Team mates who take their profession seriously
Team mates who like him
A guarantee of his preferred position

Fair enough.

It would have been preferable had he not recently extended with us though.

And I think there would be a few team mates that would say Good Riddence to you pal ......

His age is the thing that gets me. This is not some young kid who signed his first contract without understanding the fine print. This is a bloke on his 4th or 5th contract. He knows exactly what he has signed up to, all the obligations, all the issues, all the ramifications, and all the benefits. He should honour the contract full stop.

The first point is probably a major driver given he appears to be a really good family man and his family would come first as it should.
I also think that maybe Ryles was going to punt some mgt roles and that suited Hunt which is why he wasn't happy (if that rumor is true) that the deal fell through. Webby has said with an experienced coach they don't need to bring as much support systems, so I read between the lines that Flanagan being appointed meant senior mgt stays in their job. And Maybe Hunt doesn't see that as a good thing.
Can't get past the fact none of them turned up to his 300game dinner. They only have themselves to blame that he wants out.

Weilder now backflipping on his scoop quicker than DCE on The Titans

The confusion is the confusion this weasel has created

Weidler] LATEST: There seems to be confusion around the Ben Hunt story. The fact is Hunt has had enough - he wants out of the Dragons and wants out now if possible. There is no doubt about this. And his coach next year wants him to stay. There is no doubt about that. New club? Not sure.

Could get ugly real quick

Good grief, some people here will believe anything.
IF (massive IF) Ben Hunt has asked for a release, then it's just a player manager looking for a deal.

That's business.

IF there is an offer of $900K per year on the table from another club, well I ask anyone here if you would not at least test the water? Again, massive IF.

Some of the posts here are borderline toxic.

Ben Hunt ain't going anywhere and that's great. So all this angst is for nothing.
The thing is there cant be an offer of $900 per year now. They aren't allowed to table offers now.

We just don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, do we?

Whichever way you look at this situation, it is a mess. I suggest the best way through it is to do a deal with Hunt demanding that he resigns the captaincy, commits himself wholeheartedly to the Dragons for the rest of this season, competing as best he can every week in return for being released from seasons 2024 and 2025. Him leaving right now would likely negate the positives from Carr's coaching over the next 10 games.

I guess Flanagan will try his best to persuade him after Origin camp. Not sure how successful he will be.

I’d love to hear Hunts motives for the release. Very fond of griffin, doesn’t want to go through a rebuild, and wants to win a premiership. Under Griffin we were the worst team in the comp? Why would you want to continue with him as coach? now with rumours of him speaking with the dogs, tigers and titans it’s confusing because non of those teams are in a better position than us. I would be ropable if we released him to Sydney club. I think that maybe he wants to return to south east qld, which I can kind of understand. Still doesn’t explain why he signed the extension but moving back home with his young family is probably extremely appealing.

If hunt stands his ground with this talk of a release I would do it under 2 conditions.
1- We release him on the basis that he moves to a QLD club (broncos, dolphins or titans)
2- we get an origin calibre and/or a potential gun in return

Someone like Fotuaika, Fermor, Piakura would be ideal.
I honestly think as i have said before he has had enough of how our club (like all on here know) has been mismanaged in the football department especially the last 2 years under Haran / BOD / CEO? including recruitment. It is not Flanigan but some of the players have also fallen out of line due to no respect or discipline from management IMO. Hunt has seen and witnessed all that
This is not a decision he made this week
We had the BBQ / awards night / no CEO or BOD turning up to his 300 dinner / Ryles appointment being botched / Hook thrown under the bus publicly earlier this year and the day the bus ran over him the players had to front the media... and god knows what else I have missed.

Hunt likely knew this year would of been Hooks last anyway when signing new contract but hoping the players might get on the Hook bus and put in this year on and off the field. It has not happened

As soons as we sweep out football department management (hopefully Flanigan assists with this) things wont improve greatly and that is how Hunt sees it.

I am angry it is coming out like this and I dont blame him for wanting out (some supporters have had enough) but at the same time I hope Flanigan stands firm and gets his head back on our track
If not stand firm anyway and hold him to the contract.
But then the family reunion card will be played
What do you do. Management needs to go asap

I get and agree about your IF and it was my thoughts exactly

However Buzz reported on 2KY about 9.45am this morning he got a direct text reply from Ben? saying he wants out now not even waiting till next year. He had conflicting info as recent as last night
Buzz rang Flanno and told him about the text and Flanno said he would still wait till he finished origin and will speak to him when back home and try and talk him around face to face. He will not release him?

IDK but so much for Flanno focussing on his job at Manly this week

Where theres smoke theres fire - Hunts already left in his mind...I just think though if he goes to GC this year we receive at least some compensation,...Im not certain though that Sullivan is our solution at 7...we need a top line halfback...I read today that Chad Townsend is being shopped around...and dont forget the Kyle Flanagan option which im certain will come into play next season..I actually like Mitchell Pierce instead of Ben Hunt as a halfback general ..field goal specialist and a good tactician...btw can we snap up Connor Watson while he's being offered around as a utility to replace Mbye..

If true let the c, I mean H….. unt go. Ask for a non negotiable huge transfer fee and buy some forwards. Is this the 3rd captain in a row that’s wanted out of the club? Widdop, McInnes, now this clown. Some people don’t deserve to captain this team…..
Fully agree

but 3 captains leaving just a reflection of how shit this club has become
