An emphatic agreement from me to what you say Mojo. The NRL just cannot allow this to happen and must intervene with the strongest possible investigation and appropriate punishment imposed on all parties including Hunt, his manager and the Broncos (if this is the club he ends up with). Giving in to Hunt and allowing him to break his two and a half year contract with the Dragons and go and help out the Broncos by playing in the #9 to win the premiership this year would set a dangerous precedent. It also makes a mockery of the entire competition. There’s major implications here for the NRL. If it is allowed to happen then obviously clubs will have more reason to fiddle with ‘salaries’ and ‘contracts’ and, very quickly, there will be a handful of stacked sides and a bunch of non-competitive sides. Clubs will basically buy premierships. This is all contrary to the expansion plans of the NRL and the basis of the salary cap system.
This is a BIG scenario. If the NRL and auditors sit on their hands I will be amazed. If they let this go through to the keeper it will be reasonable to say the game has been destroyed; it’s just not rugby league.
I am completely lost for words on this whole affair. Hunt's bullshit excuse to leave the Dragons for family reasons is the last straw excuse he could drum up seeing that his earlier excuses did not have as much weight to break his contract.
I don't want him as a player at our club and his captaincy swiftly and unmercifully taken away from him. Let him sit out the remaining time of this years competition all the way to the grand final then let him piss off but whichever club signs him to pay a hefty amount of compensation.
