Right idea. Not sure Flanno is thinking along the same line in respect of Hunt unfortunately

You're correct mate, but I think his hands are tied.

It's a big contract to offload. I don't think Flanno is the type of guy to keep a player that has for 2 seasons now , declared he wants or wanted out. Hunt is sitting on easy street, playing where he wants, and dictating to coaches what he thinks. Blind Freddy could see he wanted Hook to stay on for his benefit.

Saints of old would have released Hunt. Think Bellamy, or the Chooks with Politis in the current era. After his media tantrums they would have escorted him out the door.

Sadly we are a weak Club with little or no power. Flanno knows this and is managing a mess.

It does my head in. StGI isn't just all about BHunt, regardless of whether he's great, good, bad or indifferent at 7.9 or 6.

I wonder whether the solution to the so called 'culture problem' at StGI is much more subtle than simply shedding players that have reputation issues or purported arrogant personality traits or whatever.

Put it this way: if I was a member of the squad, regardless of my personal opinion about Ben as a player/teammate/ captain, I'd be fed-up to the back teeth hearing about him - as if he's the irreplaceable icon of the club.

Regarding Wollongong: I just cant see it being a real issue. Townsville manage to maintain a decent squad; the Dolphins pulled one together from scratch; Newcastle .... the Warriors.

Surely the commute can't be a problem ... they're professional athletes on big coin ... just car pool .... they'd all be driving Mercs, Jags and Porsches anyway, surely. If they want to pool some money they can pay me to be their chauffer.
They use a a small bus as well
Not all player's are millionaires

I also don't think area is a key issue
So very true about Mr Hunt but...
He'll never play 9

Every time after a great win I think Hunt has accepted Kyle as, at the bare minimum, an alternate game manager, then Hunt goes and absorbs the role 100% and f$%ks us over.

I truly believe KF should play half and Ben Hunt should be the running 5/8

I also believe that Hunt would retain his Marquee 'Darling' status if he adhered to this game plan.

Yet he seems to be a 'force' unto himself

I'm not saying we instantly become a better team if Hunt leaves but I am now joining the view this club needs to move on from him and I really hope we don't re-sign regardless of the fact that we can't sign anyone.

He is a competitor and that is not lost on me. Nor he is the sole reason we lose at all. We were losers before he came along as well. Hunt is however not a great half back and he refuses to play where we need him. He has too much power for a player that has been fairly synonymous with so many rudderless losses we've experienced for years. We would just be better off to go in a different direction and cut ties now if the contract is ending.

No suggestions who we go after or bring through for 7 but I am sure we can find some young half that can organise a team in a better fashion.
