They didnt want Ken from the beginning.

They told him to take a pay cut if he wants to stay, end of story.

Whether the princess left or not, it didnt have a diiference.

Would they have told him to take a pay cut if they knew they had an extra million to spend though? Not just that but they were also counting on making Hayne the highest paid player in the NRL (assuming he isn't already). Surely that comes at a price and there's a good chance Sio was one of the sacrificial lambs to make that happen. Anyone who thinks Hayne hasn't totally screwed Arthurs future plans is delusional IMO. Next year shouldn't have been as challenging as it's going to be but thanks to the king of selfishness it certainly will be. I can't believe that Sharp and co are still bending over for him. I would have given him an ultimatum and moved on!

I f**king hope so. How much we have to spend shouldn't determine whether we pay overs for a winger when we have four or five young outside backs with more potential queuing up for a shot at an NRL jersey.

And on probably half or a third of what Sio wanted

They didn't want him. Full stop.

His manager was told to not even bother. Regardless if Hayne was here or not.

Fair enough - I'll take your word for it regarding Sio but I still believe that Hayne's premature departure has thrown a spanner in the works. I just hope that Arthur doesn't cop the same vitriol that Kearney did should we lose games next year without Hayne as we did back then when he was missing through injury etc. Hopefully our fans have realistic expectations this time round and take into account that Arthur has been screwed over by Hayne's self centredness. Going into 2015 with a team that is missing 1/5th of it's salary cap worth of talent is not going to be an easy task to say the least!

Spoke to Nathan Gardiners father at the junior league presentation night, said he had signed for another year at Sharks, apparently no other offer had come in

He might have had another offer if our last fullback gave us reasonable notice that he was pissing off!

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, I'd rather Reece Robinson than Nathan Gardener only by a coat of paint.

Sorry Hineyrulz
Dont be sorry, we should be thrilled the club has landed a quality depth signing in the Lightning fast and dependable Reece Robinson.

There may not have been a perfect time but there most certainly would have been a more desirable and more honourable time to leave and that is when his contract ended. Anyway your post is a contradiction because as you say there are no players of Haynes calibre available until the year after he was contracted to - HE LEFT ONE YEAR BEFORE THAT! How can you say one minute that there would not have been any perfect time and then say Hayne's timing is just perfect because there's no one to replace him that's available for another year?
I also think it's insanity to assume that he gave anyone notice (other than his new sponsors and the film crew) when all the evidence points to the fact that the selfish merkin clearly didn't.

If he left it til the last minute next year, we would really be in the lurch, obviously. This way we have a whole year to: 1. Get the team used to playing without him; 2. really weigh up who we want to buy and who we want to keep for 2016 (when a number of stars come off contract).

Our club would be stupid to let Hayne leave it until the last minute next year and I don't believe they would have. Anyhow I guess we just have to live with things the way they are and do the best we can under the circumstances which are far from ideal thanks to Hayne's selfishness.

Well, just for the record, I don't think he was selfish at all. We'll have to agree to disagree on that.
