you don't think larger contracts for more sought after players would take longer to negotiate? seems logical enough.. but don't let that get in the way of you having your fun JM.

It isn't logical at all, prominent signings could just as likely be concluded quickly due to the strength of an offer, or some other thing.

I for one am pretty disappointed that after claiming to have buckets of money to spend, we've failed to land any true marquee players.

It's better to sign 2 very good players, than 1 top-class player and 1 crap player.

right. by the sheer fact that i expressed the reasoning (logic) behind my statement i have already shown that it is in fact logical. it's not necessarily correct... but it is a logical assumption based on inferred data. saying that a negotiation could be concluded quickly due to the strength of an offer is an equally logical assumption.

you do know that something doesn't have to be correct or fact to be logical yeah? lol i can't believe yourself.. JM.. and anyone else who may want to have a stab has nothing better to contribute to this thread other than trying to disprove a one liner that i threw in there. you can prove me wrong.. false.. incorrect.. and that's fine, but it doesn't make my thoughts any less logical.

anyways, i didn't post in this thread to get into a stupid argument.. i posted to express that i still hold some hope that we could still nab more good signings.. and express that i did actually have a pattern of thought behind it (be it right or wrong). i'm sorry that you couldn't see the forest for the trees.

The inferred meaning of your original post was that prominent signings would in fact occur last due to the difficulty in securing said signings. Don't use semantics to cover bungled reasoning.

A forum is a place for discussion, part and aprcel of this is criticism. It's not a blind criticism, you said something which I disagree with, JM does too, befoer you go tarring people with the argumentitive brush, consider it is just as much my right to criticise what I disagree with as it is yours to state things.

Similarly, this and those disagreements is a contribution to the thread topic. You inferred that we could still make a marquee signing or at least our best signings now because 'logic would dictate that the best signings we make will also be our last.. as they'd be the signings that we really have to compete for...'. Something that simply isn't true, our best signing will probably be those of Naiqama and Cross, there simply isn't that calibre of player on the market that we can still afford.

and that's where you're just so wrong.. my second sentence in that very post when on to say that i was still HOPEFUL.. what was inferred was that it was due to this way of thinking. i didn't infer that they would occur last.. god i didn't even try and tar you with an argumentitive brush.. i merely said it was not my intention to get into an argument on this issue..

i posted to express that i was still hopeful of a big signing. i don't see how all the money could have been spent with the signings we've made.. if someone would put together a list of the signings we've made and their estimated contract value it might help determine what we can and cannot afford.

i guess i'll just have to try and be even more articulate in the future.. or just give my opinion blindly and not explain myself at all.

Pffft.

Someone disagrees with you and you fly off the handle.

Maybe you need a warm mug of hot chocolate and a lie down, precious.

It really depends on how good a negotiator respective clubs have. By the numbers that have been bandied about for Cross and Wicks, we have gone with the "blow the opposition out of the water with the size of the bid" method which has worked for 2 players who time will tell whether they are worth the bucks that we have paid...

The amount of time is all respective to the situation the clubs and the player are in. For instance I would suggest that Petero would have hoped he would have had a deal done by now...

Chief on footy show a few minutes ago - Knights are still in the market, but no more Dragons on the radar.
