I know what the rules are. The rules are dumb. It’s test cricket. It should be a test. Not a batter’s paradise. Kids want to see an action.
“dad why aren’t they playing?”
“because it’s cloudy”
“But it’s not raining”
“Yea but it’s dark”
“But the lights are on”
“Yea but it’s still dark”
“But they play cricket at night and the lights are on right now”
“Yea but bad light”
“Dad this is f**ken shit, take me home”
I didnt realise you went with your dad today

@hindy111 has a point IMO. If the BCCI, Indian multi-nationals and Indian broadcaster's pulled their funds out of the game, the international game would be a festering carcass in no time I reckon. Keen to know how anyone thinks it would be anything but to be honest....

They own it and run the game. The issue is they love T20. And a lot of the younger generation do to.
One dayers are pretty much dead and it didn't take long for them to go from popular to dyeing. I wouldn't be suprised if test crickets cooked in 20yrs. The crowds are terrible compared to what once where.

so do Pakistan, Sri Lanka, The Poms, Saffas and the currently no 1 rated world test team
If Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Sth Africa ceased playing international cricket tomorrow, I doubt the BCCI, CA and England and Wales Cricket Board would give a tinkers cuss... They'd only be concerned with making sure the best of their breed were committed to playing in their respective T20 leagues....

I'd also predict greyhounds amd Harness racing will be done in 20yrs. Its just an old man's sport.
Probably to much mine in horse racing but again with the lefty movement that also wouldn't suprise me if deemed animal cruelty and seen as cruel to support it. Could kill the industry fast.

They are the biggest investors, yes, its a religion on the sub continent as we all know, but why the f**k would they pull out ?

If they did they have no one to play against

It's huge in Pakistan and Sri Lanka

they are trying to get more countries playing the game, teams like Ireland are not far off test status I reckon,

if anything they want to go the other way and expand

Poorly worded, mea culpa. I mean, "looking at other options"
They could sell having 2 X IPL comps per calendar year and some Token test series v us slaves in Australia and England and they'd make as much money in TV revenue as I see it.

India and its corrupt money are slowly destroying the game as we know it.
It is exactly the reason why test cricket, the height of the game, is dying a slow death.

I don't think test cricket will ever die, but it's not just the BCCI, CA is doing its bit too imo.

We have the BBL to make heaps of money for them doing less work than they would normally do but they overdid the BBL hence they had to shorten it as the novelty wore off. They have shortened the Sheffield Shield to accommodate the BBL and its affecting player's techniques as they play so much white ball cricket now and you just don't really see big scores or centuries that often in Shield cricket anymore.

Why can't they use it though?

the red ball is the best visibility wise, for daytime cricket, the pink ball was designed for both but it's difficult to see as we change from day to night as that's when most wickets seem to fall.

I'd say the pink ball is still in the experimental stage.
